“Super Mid-town hotel near all the sights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

Stayed here in January 2014 and would highly recommend

The hotels is between 5th and 6th avenue in midtown and is a block away from the Empire state. So great location - Times Square, Rockerfeller, Grand Central Station, NY Public Library etc, are only a few blocks away. The nearest subway, at the end of the road, is Herald Square and that takes you directly to Chinatown/Little Italy. Four blocks away is Penn Station which is where the train from JFK goes (provided it is running, which it wasn't when we were on our way back to the airport grrr panic oh my god howarewemeanttogethome etc.)

The room was good - water and coke in your room on arrival, good fridge, massive telly, good aircon (very necessary as it was minus 16 outside). Great bathroom with super duper shower. Negative: got electric shocks everytime I touched anything, but that could be me and my magnetic personality. Yeah it's small but it's in the middle of Manhattan so that's a bit of a first world problem imo!

Breakfast is a selection of bagels and some other pastries, yoghurt and apple/orange juice and tea/coffee. Good way to start the day.

Free wi-fi, rooftop bar which would be nice if it weren't arctic temperatures outside. Hotel has a nice art-deco style.

Good Stuff Metro hotel, nice one.

Room Tip: We stayed at the front of the hotel and the bins come at 5am. Not sure if there is a quieter room...

Hotel was ideally located. Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant was terrific. Price is good for NYC. Only complaints had to do with coffee--in room I prefer small creamers to powder and in their complimentary center, the coffee was brutally strong for an American. May be just my taste though.

Room Tip: Take a top floor room. They have been remodeled and are just right.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a birthday trip to NYC. brilliant location - walking distance from just about everything, particularly Macy's! The rooftop terrace gives one of the best views of the Empire State Building in the whole city.

Stayed here for 6 nights during winter holiday break. Hotel staff helpful & courteous. Breakfast good, even the coffee. Location was great; very near subway. Our room on top floor & in corner, which made for a quiet spot with lots of space. Elevators a little slow, but not a big deal . Concierge helpful, but buy theatre tickets elsewhere....way too expensive through hotel. We paid half what they were asking by using a ticketing company. Pillows were horrible --- too much foam! Would stay again, but bring my own pillow. Kept our luggage after checkout & called for our departure to airport. Cost of room increased daily as it got closer to New Year's Eve.....quality of service didn't change though.

My best friend and I stayed for 3 nights to celebrate our 40th birthdays - what a fantastic time!! The hotel was perfectly located to all the sights that we wanted to see within walking distance. The hotel was immaculate, staff were helpful and the breakfast was a perfect start to the day!

I am in New York often and usually stay with friends, however on this trip I had to stay in a hotel in the city and I now know what will be my "go to" hotel!

Located on 45 West 35th Street it is right around the corner from Herald Square and in the midst of the Garment District (great for any shopper).

Penn Station being so close makes any subway line you may need to go elsewhere easy to get to.

The hotel itself was clean, classy and overall nice!

I 100% recommend it!

We spent 4 nights at this hotel. It's located fantastically close to the most exciting sights of New York. It is one block away from the Empire States Building (ESB) and a few minutes walk from the Times Square.

The obviously best feature of the hotel is the roof terrace. The bar wasn't open given we were there in winter but we were allowed to go up and enjoy the view. The view of the ESB is excellent, you just can't take enough photos of it :) Also the view of the nearby streets is great.

Our room was on the 12th (top) floor. We got an upgrade from a lower level, which we thought might be an advantage so that there's less street noise, but we were wrong. There are so many tools in NYC making noise all day, every day... There were a few huge ventilators on top of buildings near the hotel and their constant noise kept the room very noisy all the time. We didn't have street / ESB view either. So I don't recommend room 1201, but it was good enough for us, given we only spent the nights at the hotel.

The breakfast is not continental at all. It's basically vegetarian. Yes, they provide paper plates and plastic cutlery, but they are sturdy enough so I didn't find that a problem. My problem was rather the lack of variety and choice. It's basically muffins (for breakfast????), plain bagels, yoghurt, corn flakes and fruit. Nothing to have with your bagel. Was very disappointed with it. But as many people did, we also decided to buy some ham and cheese in a supermarket and take those with us for breakfast to make the meal more exciting.

Wi-fi is free which is great, but the connection is not very good at all. Especially in the mornings when I suppose many people check emails etc. It's great that they don't charge for it, but the quality of this service is a weakness.

Probably the best value for price in the area. Hotels in Midtown can be crazily expensive but this place seems to have stayed reasonable with what they charge.

Our overall thought of this place is that we would happily stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a room on one of the top floors and ask for one with a view of the ESB.
