“Great Valentines Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Brought my GF for her first trip to NY over Valentines & absolutely loved Hotel Metro

Compared to the previous 4 properties Ive spent time at in the Big Apple this place couldn't have been better, upon arrival we were upgraded to a larger room which had 2 double beds in it, giving us alot more space in which to store all those important shopping bags.
Bathroom was a decent size also

Perfectly located geographically with subway on the corner

Will definitely return here when staying in NY again

Although a little late in reviewing this hotel, I e-mailed the travel agent Thomas Cook in the following terms immediately on our return:

"You recommended the Metro Hotel, which was excellent. We were able to walk from Penn Station [having come from Washington] and arrived early. The hotel has evidently been upgraded relatively recently and is very well situated. Our room was on the 10th floor, was very quiet, clean and exceptionally spacious for new York. The staff were also very helpful [except for reception on arrival] and we enjoyed two excellent evening meals in the Metro Restaurant alongside, as well as clear blue skies from first thing Saturday morning onwards."

Unfortunately we only discovered the roof terrace bar on our last night - a little more information regarding hotel amenities/facilities on arrival would have been appreciated, but in all other respects 'excellent' is justified.

And after wall to wall sunshine throughout our stay, we left in the week leading up to the onset of Hurricane Sandy - how lucky was that!

Room Tip: We booked a Contemporary Deluxe twin room, which was on the 10th floor - well worth the extra.

We stayed in Hotel Metro in Feb 2012 and loved it.
Location: Great - Macy's is at the end of the street, as is the metro station. Walk to Times Square was 10 minutes. We could see the Empire State Building from our window and the roof terrace had a lovely view of it!
Hotel: Lovely - the Art Deco theme made the hotel feel really unique and welcoming. The rooms were nice and what we expected for New York and the price we paid (unless you have mega bucks don't expect too much space). Free wifi was another great bonus!
Breakfast - was yummy - there was a great choice and thought this was a lovely included extra for this hotel
Have recommended this hotel to family and friends and would definitely stay there again.

Just book it! Superb location, great breakfast, great beds, great showers, lovely staff....perhaps except one who couldn't manage a hello when we arrived!! I'd have gone for 5 stars if not for her or the slightly irritating noise from the air conditioning at the rear...ask for a room above 6th floor and it's fine :-) location is perfect though. 2 mins from Macy's and the shops of 34th and the subway up and downtown is on the corner. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.

Room Tip: Go above 6 and to the rear!

We have just come back from the Metro, what an excellent hotel and staff. They were all
very helpfull and friendly especelly Mathrew the doorman he was very helpful. The hotel is spotless and sheets and towels were changed every day.You can see the Empire State building and Macey's from the roof terrace so go up there and have a look day and night its well worth it.
We will be going back to N.Y next year and staying at the Metro. Diane & David room 215

My wife, daughter and I enjoyed a 3 night stay here for our first trip together to New York City. The hotel staff were wonderful, very helpful and sensitive to all our needs. It was the perfect location for our sightseeing adventure in the city. We were just a few steps away from the subway and only half a block from Macy's, and the Empire State Building is just a block away. We were able to walk to many locations and the subway was easy to use for those more distant spots.

The hotel was clean and lovely with its art deco interior. I would definitely stay here again when in New York.
