“great staff - average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Location is quite good, staff are very friendly & cost of accommodation is affordable.
Place is currently a construction site though; it has the slowest lift in history and rooms are not insulated to external noise. We could here dump trucks outside to the early hours of the morning.
Because its so new there are no facilities within the hotel lobby but there is a nice café next door with good coffee. Very rare in the US....

Room Tip: Stay away from the road side of the building. It is extremely noisy. rooms are quite small, but cost...

My husband & I travelled to New York from New Zealand in September & it was a pleasure to stay at the Gershwin. The bed was super comfortable, location amazing, staff friendly, rooms fresh, bright & clean. We hope to be back to see the finished hotel renovations.

Myself and my friend travelled to New York for a long weekend in between our university studies and came across this beaut of a hotel online. To our delight this hotel was exactly what we were looking for and a perfect stay for the couple of nights that we needed it for.

We highly recommend.

A bit expensive for a three stars but renovated rooms are really very nice, it looks to be in the 30's.
Very clean and comfortable, even if rooms and wardrobes are small, but bathroom is ok and shower is big.
Personnel is careful and professional. Location is perfect, in the middle of everything!

First things first, this place is still in the midst of renovation from seventh floor so you'll find some dusty footprints around the place, there is only one elevator with the other committed to workers and there will be noise from 8am on but we were on the seventh floor and heard very little from the floors below. We were upgraded from a standard to a suite and were obviously therefore pleased with all the facilities except for the lack of tea/coffee making facilities. While not cheap, the standard of the room we were eventually in made it worthwhile; the seventh floor has just been renovated, the bathroom had bath with shower and spa and shower with large overhead nozzle and handheld nozzle. The staff were fantastic and we were particularly well looked after by Mohammed from the moment we arrived and from Paul on the front desk. I would definitely stay again if I could get the right price.

Rooms are tiny, bad insonorisation, elevator sucks but hotel in renovation so hopefully they will upgrade. Rooms will still be tiny. No restaurant, no bar, no mini bar in rooms. Nice bathroom but way too small

We had a fantastic stay at The Gershwin Hotel in New York. The hotel is undergoing an extensive refurbishment and our room had been recently decorated. It was stylish and comfortable, although the blinds were a little fragile (our one gripe). The staff were extremely helpful and willingly assisted us with all our queries. The location is perfect, just around the corner from the Flatiron building and a short hop away from Midtown. We would seriously recommend it.
