I stayed there from Nov. 21 ~ Dec 4. Too many part-time managers making mistakes! I don't think it's a mistake. They charge me $1,800 on Dec 8th for room 201 which I never stayed and I was in another place. Before that, they charge me on my AMEX twice then charge me on my Masters again. They still don't figure it out and cleared anything.
They put me in wrong room once so another guest was wainting outside of my room, I had to move to another room. When I call my credit card , I found out they charge me a lot, 1. On Nov. 30, Marcel charged $281.85 on my AMEX without my understanding !! What's it for?????!!!!!??? did you ever give me receipt or notified when you charge??
2. And 5 hours later, you've charged me $565.20 again. What is it for????
I have not notified in anyway above amount was going to charged and for what????
3. I paid my room when I check out, but I got all the bill when I got home (they charged me 1.800 on Dec. 8th)

I think they are going to fix it but that's heck of mistake they've done for me.
If a manager read this post please fix the problem. I called you so you know my name.
I stayed 310 first (it's prepaid) then move to another room. My co-worker checked out on Dec 30th. (203) so only money you guys should charge me my 4 days extension--which I paid when I checked out on 4th. (I have the reciept)

It's a big scam, if you don't correct it all ASAP!

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights last weekend and aside from the fact that i picked one of the most expensive times of the year to visit New York, so the hotel was a little bit more pricey than usual, i had a FANTASTIC time at the hotel. There had been a lot of reviews about how small the rooms were but having been to New York a few times i knew what to expect. However the room i had was a deluxe and was regular by any standards but huge by NY standards. My room was clean and was well cleaned each day. Front desk and front of house were a dream an really looked after me while i was there (dealing with an irate taxi driver on my behalf). 10th floor lounge is beautiful (not well enough used in my opinion) with gorgeous views, free internet and free coffee.

The restaurant was lovely and nicely buzzing and my meal was perfect service and qualitywise. The wine selection was good and the cocktails were strong. It opens late to so perfect for a wind down before heading to bed.

Locationwise, it was a lovely and quiet location away from the tourist bustle of Times Square but easy to get to the epicentre by subway or by bus.

All in all a top stay and to top it off when i called on my return home to UK (on Wednesday) to say I'd left behind my expensive electric toothbrush, not only did they have it (many hotels would have denied knowledge) but they shipped it back to me for early Friday morning for a very reasonable price.

We booked two deluxe double doubles and the rooms were spacious. The beds were comfortable. The room was very hot despite turning off the heat and turning on the A/C. The second room had some plumbing issues. The staff was really friendly and helpful and displayed none of the superior attitude that you often encounter in upscale hotels.

I have stayed in a number of hotels in mid town as our NY office is located there. Initially I used to stay in the Carlton on Madison but Marcel is a better price / quality deal (and my company is cutting costs). I travel to NY every quarter and stay there for a week. The Marcel is now the preferred choice because the rooms are modern and it has a cosy / artsy feel to it. The rooms are not that big but they are functional and the bed is comfortable. The ac is noisy which can be annoying in summer (my colleagues in different rooms had the same issue) and road noise can be heard somewhat in most rooms (although many hotels there have the same issue).
I have also stayed in the Holiday Inn (ok but expect it to be run down quickly), Roger Williams (needs a refurb), Kitano (bit old style, but comfortable and roomy) but the Marcel is better.
The separate bar/restaurant next door is a neighbourhood hot spot, lively and a good addition to the hotel. The breakfast is to be laughed at. I am not sure if they still do it but the first time I had my breakfast there I received a plastic plate, bowl, knife and fork! Obviously I did not go back to try that again.
All in all a good hotel at a reasonable price that I would recommend to anyone, except the super demanding.
