“First visit to NYC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

Spent four nights here is September 2013, location is good and all staff great as it was our first time in Manhattan they were very helpful in showing us best ways to see the full city. Rooms are very small but decor throughout the hotel was really nice and really wasn't sure what to expect in NYC, for the price I was very satisfied with this hotel!

We were in the City for a girls weekend. The Marcel at Gramercy was fantastic. It was a great space in a great location. I loved the decor and luxurious feel of the entire hotel! Such a great experience!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

We recently spent two nights at this hotel on our recent New York trip. Although very well appointed with a nice lobby and lovely fire going (in the extreme cold) we found the room itself was very, very small with not enough room for walking past the bed without turning sideways. The bed itself was comfortable but the heating/air-conditioning unit was quite old and dripped all night behind the wall so sleeping was not ideal as the dripping kept us awake. When we mentioned this to staff we were told they were aware of the problem and it was "being looked into". The hotel was quite noisy and the only coffee and tea making facilities were on the 10th floor. Staff were very nice, and the Concierge arranged transport for us efficiently. The last morning there we ordered breakfast in our room which was very nice and brought up to us at the appointed time.

I think you can get better value for your money.

Thank you for posting your valuable feedback on TripAdvisor!

I am pleased to hear that our staff was accommodating to you during your stay. I am very disappointed to learn that you experienced some challenges with our heating unit in the room. I will be sure that this feedback is followed up on and appreciate you informing us.

In regards to the size of our guestrooms, our standard guest room is of average NYC hotel room size, we do provide numerous room type/size options for our guests. I would always recommend to reserve a category higher if our standard rooms are too small.

Thank you again for your review and I hope that you will give us another opportunity in the future.

Sincerely,

Nalini Sullivan

had 4 nights here in Feb 2014. They provide ear plugs so you can sleep through the traffic noise at night. the windows are doubled glazed but they need more. As NY is a city that never sleeps the Avenue is always busy with cabs, but with earplugs in I slept well. the hotel rooms are small but functional, clean and individually furnished. staff were great, I would stay there again. they have a limo sedan to take you to JFK, $59 inc tolls and tax although the driver went via La Guardia to avoid tolls.

This was another one of our Hotel Tonight scores. We really enjoyed the neat "green" touches, using your hotel key to power and heat the room. The bed was very comfortable and ours was a bookshelf style headboard - so functional and wish I had one myself. The hotel is walking distance to everything, and not sure if it was luck but there was plenty of free street parking. Excellnt value and beautifully modern.

The hotel has a very nice touch of fresh humor and style. Rooms are not too large (well, it's Manhattan after all!), but you have everything you need. Staff is very friendly and helpful!
The location is good, there are a lot of excellent restaurants close-by (at 3rd Ave). If you have a room looking at the avenue, you'll likely need ear plugs to sleep, but it worked well in my case.

Room Tip: if possible, choose a room looking to 24th street

Thank you very much for your review! We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us!

I am sorry to hear that your room was a bit noisy from the traffic on 3rd Avenue, I am so glad that ear plugs provided in your room were helpful. Rooms facing away from 24th Street and 3rd Avenue are usually very quiet and I would recommend to make this request for future reservations.

Thank you again and hope to welcome you back very soon!
