“Port in a storm refuge !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

After having to leave the nearby Hilton during the hurricane Sandy, we stayed here for 4 nights waiting to get a flight home. Staff were helpful and friendly despite the difficulties of he storm.
Not having a restaurant or bar was a bit of an issue as most of the surrounding restaurants were closed and meals from the duaneread pharmacy werent the best! In different circumstances this wouldnt have been an issue. Our room on the 11th floor was cleam modern and comfortable, however with just a small window which looked directly onto an office? Block it was so dark it felt like a dungeon particulary as we were holed up there for a long time. Unable to get a mobile signal in be room, had to got down to the lobby before it clicked in which was very inconvenient particulary as the wifi was also down for 2 days. Overall it was o.k , we were grateful for a room but not somewhere we would choose to stay again. We did feel that we were being a little taken advantage of with the room rate 300 dollars plus a night increasing to 599 dollars on the saturday night as it was the New York marathon! Luckily we flew home today and didnt need the room tonight .

Once again we stayed at the Courtyard, Times Square South. The fact that so many of the staff have remained for so long speaks highly of the management and work environment. Arriving on Oct. 25 with a broken hand mended by surgery two days before, the staff went out of their way to help with everything. The new Nosh dining facility is more than adequate for a fast start or end to the day. The rooms are clean, the locale excellent. We had to depart early on Sunday to avoid getting caught in the hurricane. The staff made the transition easy as well as making arrangements for us in the event we could not get out of NYC. Great place to stay.

Possibly the best thing about this hotel is that it is a Courtyard so it has the usual furniture and amenities. Very convenient to Times Square which is good for theatre and access to all the subway lines which pass by within a very short walk from the hotel. The rooms are small, but what I have come to expect in NYC. Recently refurbished, they have unfortunately take out the bath tubs and put in 5' showers. They also have the new Market for breakfast, which is also open in the evening. The rooms are a little pricey, but on par for Manhattan and they do have deals available from time to time. I was staying on Marriott points (35,000 per night) so was not concerned about that.

Room Tip: There are 8 rooms per floor in this hotel, avoid the x08 rooms as they are up against the elevator b...

We stayed here for 3 nights and could not have been much more disappointed. For $400 a night we expected so much more. There were 3 adults and 1 child in our party and the room was so small it was hard to walk around. The beds were NOT comfortable at all and the bathroom amenities were a joke. We were given 1 bottle of shampoo the size of my finger which was enough to wash one person's hair not 4. The same with the conditioner & lotion. The shower had a hand held shower sprayer which my daughter could not even reach so I had to shower with her each day. There was absolutely no service help with luggage. The only thing the staff did do for us was arrange our transportation to the airport when we checked out. I have stayed in hotels for $69 a night that were better.

Solid hotel in a good location. Subway convenient, close to Times Square, walking distance to shows and many restaurants. On a quiet block, and you can avoid Times Square if you want to. It's a typical marriott courtyard, no full service restaurant or fancy amenities, but there is food and drink available for sale as well as wine and beer you can take to your room. I was pleasantly surprised to find a concierge here (wasn't expecting one), so that was helpful. A good reliable hotel, I would stay here again. I was on the 32nd floor and had a nice view of the Empire State building.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor with a view of the Empire state building!

This is in a great location just off Broadway near Times Square. Quick access to subway, walk in minutes to the heart of Times Square, catch a cab in a flash nearby, nice relatively quiet block. The room was a good size for a NYC hotel, big desk area, nice TV. No view from our room except of some offices across the way, but heck, it's a city hotel. There was almost no cell service, despite being on one of the top floors, but there was free wireless in the room. The restaurant has a limited selection of breakfasts, but the egg, cheese, and bacon breakfast sandwich on artisan bread was perfect! They also proudly brew Starbucks and the breakfast café is in the same clean, modern style as the rooms. The only bummer was trying to get the ONE spot in front of the hotel where you are allowed to park your car for the valet. Not a fun task when "circling the block" takes about 20 minutes! I stayed on a previous visit at the Doubletree right on Times Square and in addition to having a full restaurant and a suite with a living room, we had a view of Times Square with all the blinking lights and madness right from our room, the door opens right on Times Square, and our kids loved that. For a quieter more subdued visit I would stay at this Marriott again.

Room Tip: Not sure which room numbers are where, but it would have been nice to be on the outside of the hotel...

Calm. Clean. QUIET. Ahhhh. A room on the top floor of the hotel. Check-in was fast. No glitches. The room was spotless. All my Marriott preferences carried out. Great advice from Front Desk/Guest Services associates. Here for business. Would return. Great view of the Empire State Building from my room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is on a floor with few guests. It may take some searching on the hotels staffs p...
