“Great Base for being in the Heart of it all.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2014

We stayed between the 8th - 13th May. Travelled from the UK with our 11mth old. Facilies are spot on within the Hotel. Thanks to Joanna for sorting out the Childs cot for the Room! even with this the rooms were spacious, we stayed on the 15th Floor corner King suite, even this high you can hear the subway but didnt stop us from sleeping at all. Had great views towards the Hudson River.
Im not one for complaning just honest reviews so here are some points to note:
The Hotel is based on 8th Avenue which is busy! so you will hear traffic noises, there is a firestation nearby so you will hear fireengine sirens..... Alot, But we felt it was all part of the experience.
There is coffee making facilities in the room but it is only a Coffee Maker not a kettle, therefore if you want a cup of tea you are best to use the Microwave as there is no kettle All in all this is a great Hotel to base your trip around & would definately use again on the next trip

Room Tip: High Up & toward the front of the Hotel seem to be the best room. We had 1502 Corner King Suite.

Hi There UkHammers,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with travel community. It’s great to know to know that your stay was a pleasant experience and that you enjoyed the comfort of the room. I understand your concern in regards to the noise. Our hotel is located in a busy theater district and noise can be a challenging if you are not used to it.
It was my pleasure to assist you and we will be looking forward to welcome you back in the future!

Third trip to New York and second time at Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. Was so good last time we had to come back here again. Still friendly staff and a great room, one queen bed, good size for New York and great amenities included small fridge, microwave oven, flat screen TV, in room safe and free internet too.
Position is perfect, a stones throw to Times Square and Broadway Shows, subway station near by and tour bus starting point close by as well. It's not too far to walk up to Central Park or down town as well.
Recommend you do the bus tour loops first, then also buy a 7day subway pass ($31) to get around to wherever you want to so you can explore in and around by foot, best way to get a feel and experience for this fabulous city.
Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, look around and experience the area then get the subway back. If doing the Statue Of Liberty, be sure to prebook on line and do the walk/climb to the top inside the crown, well worth the effort and little extra expense. Walk along Hudson Park beside the river, explore in and around Central Park, Empire State Building, Top Of The Rock, see a show or two.....there's just so much to see & do.
Research and find out what things interest and suit you, go and do them and enjoy your trip, we certainly did!

Room Tip: Be pleasant to check in staff and ask for as high a floor as possible and you never know your luck...

Me and 3 friends stayed at this property for 5 nights in May 2014. The rooms were spacious and clean and hotel staff very friendly. It is a short walk to Times Square and there is a metro line less than a minute away. Would recommend, would go back.

I was skeptical at first because my rate seemed too good to be true considering I was blocks from TS. Surprisingly enough, the place was great. Room service and some other amenities are limited, but if you want a good price you need to give up some of those luxuries that you often don't use. I'm a fan of this place and will most definitely look into staying here again next time I'm in NY.

I stayed there for business as it was near where I had to be. Staff was friendly, room was clean and the internet was included so that is always a plus. That said it is a Hilton and expensive. My company paid for it, but not a budget hotel by any means.

Applying normal New York City standards, the room was quite nice. Our 2-bed room on the 12th floor was larger than many in the city, had minimal noise, and was consistently kept clean. Also, the tv was a large, hi-def, with many channels, the bed was comfortable, air conditioning worked just fine, and the shower was hot and with good pressure. In other words, all the "needs" were checked off!

Likewise, all staff members I met were consistently pleasant and helpful, particularly on the 2 occasions I needed a taxi in the rain.

The location on 8th Avenue was within 2 blocks of a subway, so travel was easy and convenient. And an excellent grocery story was just across the street. It can easily be used to stock the room's fridge, and it's much more reasonably priced than the hotel's small gift shop (that, frankly, really stood out as being vastly over-priced).

Overall, the price seemed high, but again relative to NYC standards, it was perfectly reasonable. If there was one concern, it appeared that the hotel was aging a bit, and renovation was only on the surface. (Peeling paint on the bathroom door, and no exhaust fans). But that merely moved this from "excellent" to "very good."

I have just returned from my first visit to New York and needed a hotel with a great central location as wanted everything within walking distance if possible or if not accessible through other means without hassle. This hotel offered me, personally, the perfect location being a 2 minute walk from times square and a lovely selection of restaurants. 15 minute walk from central park and 5 minute walk from the main stop for the hop on/off bus which on another note was worth every penny.
My hotel room 822 was clean with a comfortable queen bed with duvet which I find a must for any good hotel and more importantly agood nights sleep. Air con worked well with only a quiet humming and everything clean and well kept.
Large tv however channel variety a little poor compared to the choice I had when staying elsewhere in America.
Lifts were quick and which considering we were on floor 8 was important as didnt waste time waiting around.
My only big issue was a fire station next door which allows its fire engines to sound 24/7 so evey night you would be woken at least once to sirens! However I would imagine that almost any of the hotels nearby would face the same issue. Maybe suggest a hotel room not front facing if you think rhis may be a problem for you but I got use to it. After all this is the city that never sleeps!

Hi honestdan,

Thank you for your kind review of our hotel. I will be certain to share your feedback with the team and they will be delighted to learn that we have been able to provide yet another guest with a memorable experience.

I would like to apologize for the FDNY sirens, but as you said this is the city that never sleeps and sirens contribute to our signature lullaby.

Should you return please feel free to contact me directly and I will be sure to assign you a room in a quieter location.
