“40th Birthday Celebration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

Arranged a trip to New York to celebrate my 40th Birthday with my husband. Hilton Garden Inn staff were helpful even before we arrived. Sharing knowledge of places to visit and information on airport transfers. Both my husband and I had email contact with Joanna in guest relations and was very kind reserving us a wonderful room and arranging a little gift for my celebration.
On arrival staff at Hilton Garden Inn were very friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage until our room was ready.
Hotel is in the perfect location, we had a corner room on the 14th floor . Large room with everything you will need for your visit . Perfect and enjoyable base for tired feet after a day exploring. Staff reserved a car for trip back to airport, a few dollars more than a taxi but worth every penny (cents)
We had an amazing 5 days in the wonderful city of New York. Big Thanks to Joanna and the staff of Hilton Garden Inn for making us feel welcome and our stay such a pleasurable one. Great memories that will last forever. Feeling sad to be home .

This was my first time in NYC and the hotel did not disappoint. The location was fantastic, Times Square just around the corner and very easy to get anywhere you wanted. The room was very spacious with the huge bed being extremely comfy. Probably the best quality bed I have ever stayed in. There was some minor traffic noise heard in our room (14th floor) however being in the middle of NYC I did not expect anything different and this did not disrupt our stay at all.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again.

Great location: simple to get to, very close to Lincoln Tunnel - I was concerned about NYC traffic. Park garage right next to hotel and get a discount through hotel. Hotel is very close to major attractions - obviously Times Square and also walking distance to Central Park, Rockerfeller Plaza (Top of the Rock is best view of NYC - don't do Empire State Building, can't see Central Park well and can't get the great pictures of the Empire State Building), close to shopping. No need to drive anywhere, $25 cab ride to Battery Park to take ferry to Statue of Liberty. Hotel room is suprisingly large for NYC hotel. Room was quiet (was on 11th floor and away from 8th Ave.). We are Hilton Diamond members so breakfast was included (think Gold members get breakfast also), outstanding breakfast, choice of buffet style or made to order - outstanding selection. Service was incredible: few days before arrival received an email from Joanna inquiring about any special requests for our room (I'm a long time Hilton Honors member and never have been asked that previously). The rest of the staff was great, one day we were exhausted from walking and didn't want to walk to far for dinner and asked for a good pizza spot, Charlie from the staff walked us a block away to great restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and always smiling, they really enjoyed their job. Actually, my family was shocked at how nice all the New Yorkers were. The rudest people we encountered were other tourists. Great job Hilton Garden Inn Times Square!

We have just returned from a fantastic 6 day break in New York, on our previous visit we stayed in the New Yorker hotel how ever thought we would try another hotel this time.
As it was my brother and his wife's first time in New York, there was a bit of pressure to get it spot on and that's exactly what we managed to do.
From the moment we checked in to the Hilton gardens hotel on 8th avenue 49 the street, we were treated very well.
The reception staff were very helpful answering any questions we had.
The rooms were excellent quality and a very good size, the view from our window especially at night was spectacular when all the lights of the sky scrapers were on. My brother unfortunately had a room at the back of the hotel which was facing a brick wall however was of the same high standard.
We decided to eat breakfast in the restaurant attached to the hotel, Pigalle

which although a bit pricey at $ 22 dollars was excellent value, buffet style, and as much tea and coffee as you could consume.
The location was fabulous, plenty of local very reasonable eateries in the avenue close to the hotel.
The Heartland brewery had excellent beer and food and the Social pub and Mexican restaurant had great atmospheres and excellent food and beverages.
One of the local tour buses the NY tour, ( look for the men in yellow jackets when booking a tour) starts 2 blocks away on 51st street 8th avenue and were the best priced deal available, we also got tickets for the Empire State Building, skipping the queues and tickets for the ferry to Liberty Island and Ellis Island as part of the deal which was $ 99 dollars per person, we managed to get them to agree to a four day pass instead of 2 days which allowed us unlimited travel on the bus which we used to our advantage.
It is best to start the tour at the bus stop just up from the hotel as it gets very full quickly on the way round.
Should we return to New York in the future we wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel and would also recommend it to our friends and family.

Room Tip: Request a room at the front of the hotel and enjoy the views particularly at night.

I had a great stay here! The staff is really great, and they try to please use in every way (and that may not be so common in NYC). The location is just superb a few blocks away from Times Square, and for the average room sizes in Manhattan, these ones are huge.

And the fitness center is actually quite good too (few treadmills, free weights).

I would CERTAINLY stay here again!

I can only echo all the fab reviews on here already. You will not be disappointed. All rooms have been refurbished. Nice decor, some great B&W shots of the city around the hotel. We booked a standard room with two huge beds as there were no deluxe rooms available. On 4th floor we had plenty of room and it's perfect for us with good views of 8th. Be warned there is not much hanging space for four but the rooms are designed for two and we are happy to live out of the cases for a short break. The road noise is minimal in the room and certainly didn't keep us awake. The beds are so so comfortable, good shower, handy fridge and microwave in the room but... What sets this hotel apart is the staff. When a company get customer service right and give it top priority you end up so much more satisfied you are likely to overlook any other little issues. In this hotel however there were no issues. It's the perfect stay in midtown. Huge thanks to Tennille for our welcome gift! Such a kind thought, and do make yourself known to the infamous Donald who is the most infectiously friendly and helpful member of the team and has been for 21 years. Do speak to customer relations, I thought I'd done all the research but it took staff here to tell me you can use one metro ticket for four people. As long as you are careful not to delay the commuters we found it convenient.
A FewTips, don't be frightened of the metro, give it a go and you'll soon crack it. Walk when you can, remember for a family sometimes cabs work out cheaper though.
Eat somewhere different each meal, try what you don't know. Speak to people, New Yorkers are very friendly! I'm reviewing the city separately and individual places we are visiting (yes, I'm still here) but have to suggest you check out Free Tours By Foot and try Chop't for the salad experience of a life time.
