“Great hotel, fantastic location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

We stayed there for 5 days in early September. We had a room with two queen size beds. The rooms were small, but we had everything we needed. Please note there is nothing in the minibar provided, but downstairs in the lobby is a small convenience store ( 24 hours) selling drinks, ice creams, cereals, three minute noodles, toiletries. The room also has a microwave. The staff were professional and booking in was easy. The hotel is one block from Time Square, but we never experienced any noise, and our room was peaceful and quiet.Good beds, good linen, and daily cleaning of a high standard. The bathrooms are small but functional. All and all- a great stay.

Having just spent 8 nights over 2 weeks at the Hilton Gardens we have nothing but praise for them. We were greeted off the street by Donald after an exhausting 21 hour flight from Australia and could not have been made to feel more welcome. Donald went on to become a great friend over our stay there and was always quick with a smile and welcoming nod that made us feel like we were coming home each day we returned from an exhausting tour around this amazing city. He was an absolute fountain of knowledge and there was literally nothing that he could not help us with when we asked him for recommendations for food, drink or attractions around the area and beyond. He has worked there for over 20 years and has great knowledge of what goes on in that town. I would also like to mention the great service we had from Ernest on the front desk. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he went out of his way to greet and speak with us each day as we made our way on and out of the hotel, again made us feel very special and not just another person staying in a new city.

This is a great hotel to be based for a short or extended stay in New York. It is central to nearly everything and easy to get to and from by public transport (although walking is the preferred way of getting around in this area). The rooms are very comfortable and well maintained and have handy facilities like a proper fridge and microwave which was most appreciated on the one night that we were too tired to venture outside instead making use of the fantastic supermarket store which is located 50 metres from the front door and has a terrific range of fresh food and beverages. The internet worked just fine in the rooms and the descent sized desk made keeping up with work emails etc no problems at all. The front desk were again only to happy to quickly assist with any requests we may have made and ensured that we were looked after at all times

Without a doubt though it was the friendliness of the staff in the hotel that made all the difference. From our initial conversation from Australia with Keralyn on the desk through to our ongoing interactions with Donald, Ernest and Estella our Guest Experience Manager we were at all times made to feel special and warmly welcomed into the hotel. We would have no hesitation in staying there again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in New York

I have just returned from a week long stay at the hotel which was in the best position ever for seeing the Big Apple. The rooms were exceptionally clean and I was so surprised to find flowers balloons, cupcakes and sweets left in our room as a surprise for my birthday what a kind thought.

I honestly can fault the hotel other than the breakfast, we stayed 6 nights and found that the buffet and the menu food was luke warm which was a disappointment. The quality of the food is very good but it could be doing with being a lot hotter.

The staff are brilliant, Donald was amazing and full credit to him, I would return and stay here without hesitation this was our second trip and preferred the location of this hotel and the standard of the rooms to the New Yorker!!

I will be back, please book if you are looking at the hotel you wont be disappointed!!

Room Tip: Higher floors rooms are excellent and no smoking!!

My sister and I stayed here last weekend to celebrate my birthday. We were greeted by Ernest for check in who was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and spacious. Very convenient location, especially since within walking distance to Hell's Kitchen where we had dinner both nights. After checking out we wanted to go to the 9/11 Memorial and didn't want to drag our bags. Charles, the concierge, was very helpful with accurate subway directions, securing our bags in storage, and also hailing a taxi for the airpot when we returned. 5 Stars for Charles!

This hotel is well positioned to the subway and Times Square. The room itself was spacious (by NYC standards) though the bathroom was a little tight. Speaking of the bathroom, there was great water pressure and always hot water (in my experience, not a given in NYC). Everything was clean and staff was friendly. I was hounded a few times (via email and voice message on hotel phone) to let them know if I needed anything. While I appreciated the sentiment, that blinking red light on my phone while on vacation always makes my stomach drop. Certainly if I had a problem, I'd address it without invitation. In fact, the outlet in our bathroom stopped working. We made a call to the front desk, went out for the day and returned to a working outlet. All in all, a delightful stay.

We went to New York for a week as a family of 4. New York hotel rooms are notoriously small but this was fine. We had a room with 2 twin beds. They are 5 foot as opposed to the English 4 ft 6 inches so my children didn't mind sharing. The room was reasonable sized with fridge, microwave and coffee maker. We take our own travel kettle to the US to make tea! There was a supermarket next door for milk, croissants etc. For the Brits get your wine from the liquor store just north up 8th avenue. Supermarkets don't do wine. Everything in the hotel was clean and spotless and the service was excellent. The maid produced a corkscrew in moments. Advice is arrive with small denomination cash for all the gratuities required. For things to do this hotel is bang on near Times Square with access to tour buses (Grey Line just across 8th avenue) and subway. Don't eat in the hotel as it is expensive and there is plenty of choice nearby for breakfast and evening meal. Plenty of good restaurants in West 46th street 2 blocks south of the hotel. If you really want to see US excess do the food market under the Times Warner building at Columbus circle.

Room Tip: If you don't want noise stay away from the lifts - the air conditioners near the lift well are v...

We stayed here for a 50th birthday trip. Rooms are a good size compared to some Manhattan hotels. Close enough to Times Square and the subway to get everywhere quickly, but just far enough from the hustle bustle to allow a good nights sleep. Some of our group stayed closer to 42nd and expressed a lot of street noise.
The staff on check in were courteous and professional on our arrival, we had a welcome gift in our room for my birthday and a complementary breakfast for myself and my wife for the great breakfast bar next to the hotel, a nice touch.
The bellman were all amazing and very attentive. I am not going to remember all the names but they are a great team. The concierge team were all fantastic too, very helpful no matter what our request
Great touch with the free Starbucks in the lobby, overall a great stay, I would strongly recommend this hotel for first time visitors and seasoned travelers to New York.
Our only gripe if there is one would be a mix up on our nightly rate, but that was handled professionally by the front desk team although it took 3 attempts to get rectified.

Room Tip: We stayed on 14th floor, very quiet so ask for high floor. Stay away from 1411 it is right next to e...
