“Great location and excellent value (for New York)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2008

My expectations were low, the hotel was comparatively cheap when compared to many hotels in New York. Also I had never heard of this value brand within the Hilton Group. Admittedly we had a few problems at check in - we struggled to persuade reception to give us the room type we had booked months earlier oh and our toilet flooded the bathroom - but I cannot hold this against the hotel! Just off broadway (1 min) , walking distance to central park (10 mins) and Empire state (20 mins), the location was spot on. Very busy and very touristy (well it was Times Square). Rooms far nicer than they look on the internet, looked recently refurbished and very much like a standard Hilton room. I would definitely recommend this hotel. But why oh why is everywhere so expensive in New York.

Hotel is located literally one block away from Times Square.

The rooms were a decent size. With a very comfortable bed.
The people that worked there are by far the best. There is a concierge that is open for about 12 hours during the day (very helpful). There is also a 24 hr convenience store.

There is a nice Japanese restaurant called Akoi right across the street from the hotel. I recommend it to anyone who likes sushi.

Honestly, if you booked this hotel then you have nothing to worry about. If you are considering it I suggest you book it.

we have just come back from a 6 night stay here 22/4-28/4 and on the whole I would agree with most of the reviews . We were on the 8th Floor facing 8th Avenue and there was some noise from the street. The bathroom door could have done with at least a lick of paint if not repaired it was damaged and the staff at reception were polite but not that friendly. Thats the negatives the positives the location surrounded by theatres and very near shops free internet access they have 4 machines in the business center it may be a struggle to get on as they are very heavily used all the time but great to have all the same It was lovely to have both a fridge and microwave in the room and there is a great supermarket across the road ' The Food Emporium '
The on site restaurant 'Le Pigalle' is a little on the expensive side considering the food is about average.
I would have no hesitation staying again and in fact plan on doing so

I can't say enough about this hotel. The rooms are absolutely perfect. The rooms are all tastefully decorated and updated with LCD Television. Bathroooms are in great condition. We were on the 8th floor, so even though we were facing a busy street, we didn't hear a thing from outside (which is rare for NY). The staff were very helpful for any of our needs. And the location was absolutely great! A definate recommendation for anyone wanting a great hotel in Times Square!

Hard not to be a jaded New Yorker with NYC hotels. Tres expensive! Well, not this place. For the cost of your average low-quality hotel, Hilton has put together a great hotel that fits most travelers, from tourists, to a seasoned traveler.

Few misses to even comment on, this place is a block from the 50th st subway (Metro) station. I'd recommend walking a block or two around hells kitchen for dinner options, as the restaurant attached to the hotel is rather pricey, and average. In fact, there's a full grocery store just a block away, so you can stock up on whatever you might want to pop in your room's micro-fridge.

Rooms are above-average in size, and have a great bed, sitting area, and decent bathroom. Wireless internet throughout was perfect, and the front desk staff very helpful with a few business needs.

Overall, I'd stay here again, if I am in Midtown. Accessibility and a quiet-er part of midtown nearby are big pluses. Minus? The hotel needs to get an affinity or discount program with a local gym. The health club was a bit too limited in equipment.

I stayed in at the Hilton Garden Inn for 10 nights. I was getting married in New York so wanted everything to be stress free. There was a big party of us. We had six rooms altogether and although Virgin had made errors with the room selections (double when should be twin etc) the hotel staff were brilliant and sorted it out as quickly as possible considering it was one of the busiest weeks!
I suppose the staff may have been extra nice to us as we were getting married and were staying a bit longer than their usual guests but they really went to town and looked after us with gifts etc. They were all so polite and friendly and they are happy to give good advice on places to go and money saving tips!

The hotel itself is in a fabulous location, central to everything and there are lots of good restaurants and bars close by. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The restaurant is also quite nice, particulaly for breakfast. There is free internet access

All in all I would defintitely recommend this hotel and hope to be staying there for our anniversary!

I have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, i was really impressed with the location & service . I only had to call the reception desk once as one of our lights wasnt working & within half an hour it was mended . The staff were all polite, hotel & room was very clean . When we arrived we had been allocated a double room, where we had asked for a twin, this was resolved without us even mentioing anything , as the receptionist spotted our request. The room was a smoking room , where we are non smokers, but we just openend the windows & it was fine . We were given breakfast vouchers as compensation, which was unexpected & much appreciated . I wasnt there on business , but did make use of the free internet service . The actual location of hotel was very good, as it is only a couple of minutes walk from times square, we also went to a show & the theatre was a matter of minutes away. I wouldnt walk at night in my own town, but felt very safe walking in New York. The whole city totally impressed me . Our flight home wasnt until later in the day & there was storage available for our cases till we left which was very useful . The restuarant was very good, always very clean & i never felt rushed but also i never had to wait , the staff were very efficiant, polite & helpful . I am hoping to go back to New York & i would stay at this hotel again & will be recommending it to others .
