I was checking in late on Saturday night when they told me they couldn't find my reservation and took them nearly a hour to find it and to make us key cards that actually worked. They then double charged my credit card after telling me it was only a $30 incidentals charge. Not a great experience.

This hotel has been smartened up since our last visit a few years ago.The hotel is ideally situated for getting to and from all the major attractions and is just off Broadway, a short stroll to Central Park and a short stroll to Times Square. It is now a boutique hotel. The room was a decent size as was the bathroom, everything was nice and clean and a the bed was comfy The rooms were very warm and stuffy for sleeping in at night but if you put the air con on it was so noisy you couldn't have slept. There was no complimentary tea/coffee in the rooms which I thought let it down and the prices charged for the mini bar and sweets etc were extortionate. (They wanted $8 just for a bottle of water.) The rooms can be noisy from the street traffic along with the garbage trucks that work at 1 a.m. every night, so take some earplugs because you will need them. The gentlemen who worked on the doors and the lobby were very cheerful guys, all had a smile and a greeting for you and were helpful, where as the staff we encountered on the desk could certainly do with some lessons in how to greet with a smile and maybe a few pleasantries. Whilst they were helpful when approached the people we dealt with were unfortunately also very miserable.
I would return to this hotel, ear plugs at the ready as it is in such a good position for getting around the city.

Room Tip: rooms at the back of hotel will probably be quieter but not by much

This was our first time in New York and we were delighted with the hotel. Location was perfect for walking to many of the famous landmarks and sites. On arrival we were greeted by a very helpful receptionist - Sharon. She made our visit very enjoyable and was exceptionally helpful and courteous at all times. We had a magnificent room which was a wonderful surprise and we would like to say a special "thank you" to the manager for the lovely complimentary champagne and chocolates we received in honour of my special birthday celebration. Jeff was also good enough to help organise our return shuttle to the airport without any problem. We had fabulous cocktails in the bar and the bar man was very attentive. Overall this was an excellent hotel and we had a wonderful experience with the hotel and the staff making our trip very a very memorable one.

Great hotel space. Friendly, professional and efficient staff. I would recommend a stay at the Ameritania for all travelers. The hotel is centrally located in mid-town Manhattan so it is accessible to all sights and venues.

Great location just a few blocks south of Central Park and just north of Times Square with a tube stop just one block south on 53rd St. Firstly what a fantastic city, we just loved it. The Hotel was great, clean, modern but with a bit of character for the period. Upon arrival the reception staff were great explaining everything we needed to know about the Hotel and the City. They gave advice on the best way to get around and some of the best places to visit and eat at. The rooms were of a good size and had all the mod cons you need from TV with many channels to mini fridge. We didn't have breakfast there as we wanted to get out and explore so can't comment on that one. The door staff were also very helpful with help and advice on where to go and explore and eat at. The hotel has many eateries near by, all the chains are in times square which are OK but there are some brilliant places, Mexican especially just of the beaten track. I would stay here again without any hesitation.

Room Tip: Go for the upgrade and corner suite with double aspect.

The location could not be better, on the corner of Broadway close to Times Square and Central Park. The hotel is contemporary, rooms small but clean and comfortable. Very comfortable bed! Breakfast was ok however better to take a short walk to one of the many good cafes and restaurants nearby. The concierge staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Downside is expensive wifi.
