“Exceeded expectations. Over and above customer service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

We booked a trip to New York city with my family recently, and found this hotel centrally located and within a short walk to Times Square, which is what we were looking for. The day we were arriving just happened to be our wedding anniversary. I called the day before we were to check in to see if it was possible to have some flowers waiting in the room when we arrived. When I called, Renaldo at the front desk answered the phone and was very accommodating, and super polite. Not knowing what to expect, I could not have asked for a better response. He said he'd take care of it, and he followed thru 100%. When we arrived at the room my wife was definitely surprised. Not only did he have a beautiful flower arrangement in the room, there was a lovely letter congratulating us on our anniversary and thanking us for spending our time in New York with them, a bottle of white wine with 2 glasses, plus he laid rose pedals on the bed in the shape of a heart. Like I said "way above and beyond" We could not have been more happy visiting New York for the first time not knowing what to expect. SO THANK YOU AMERITANIA, AND A HUGE THANK YOU AND KUDOS TO RENALDO!!!

After my first experience of New York a week earlier I wasn't looking forward to coming back. This Hotel is small and quaint and the rooms are as well (queen bed leaves under a meter either side and end to walls). The beds are wonderful, very comfy. If you are a larger sized person this may be a problem for you as the bathroom is small as well and can be difficult to manoeuvre about. But lets be honest your only really in there to sleep right and after all it is New York!
Its literally around the corner from the David Letterman Show, 5 minutes to either Central Park or Times Square or 5th street. The only time you will need public transport is if you want to get down to the bottom of Manhattan but its really a pleasant walk down there. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Others have stated they had free Wi-Fi in their rooms but we didn't (room 420), it was at cost. I had trouble with the A/C panel, it could have just been me but it come on automatically when it was turned off, weird.
I would stay here again for if I wanted to do things in that area on Manhattan.

Room Tip: We had room 420, no view but you really cant expect one in a skyscraper city unless your in the pent...

Pleasant staff, doormen helpful and courteous. This hotel is located close to everything a visitor could ask for, the lobby and bar area are great for sitting and talking . The area feels safe and is vibrant and alive.

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor to get away from city noise

We stayed at the Ameritania in April 2013 because of its proximity to a show we were attending. Had never stayed there before, and had a pleasant experience. The room was not overly large, but was adequate enough for our overnight stay. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and well-appointed. The staff were friendly and very helpful, even reminding us to use our AAA rate for a discount. Jeff the doorman was particularly nice. I would definitely patronize the Ameritania again when needing to be in that area.

Good place, conveniently located, good price and friendly staff... Rooms are average in size, nonetheless, they are updated and cozy... Nothing fancy but worth every penny... Restaurants and groceries are short walk away, which is convenient, not to mention some are open 24 hrs... Big shops are within minutes of walk time... Nice place...

I stayed at the New York City hotel on a Friday night and had a very good stay. The staff was great and they gave me an upgrade because I checked in early at 1pm which was nice because I had a hotwire room deal. The room was quite except you could hear door slams from other rooms in the hall (second floor at the end of the hall). The room filtered out the outside NYC noise very well. There was no view at all and I wish there had been some sheer curtains to let in the light, otherwise if you raised the blackout shade, you were looking at a brick wall, fire escape and someone's terrace next door. The bed was comfortable and the shower was really great: hot water, great water pressure and a waterfall shower. The only issue was a faint smell of aftershave and Ben-Gay from a previous renter. I've stayed in more expensive hotels in the city and this was REALLY a very quiet hotel and as clean and comfortable as any. Well worth it. I'd stay again.

Room Tip: The elevator noise is pretty loud. Ask for a room away from it and the ice machine.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 5 days. The staff was always very friendly and the hotel was very clean and modern. You CANT beat this location. 5 minute walk to the heart of times square, 5 minute walk to central park, 2 minutes to a subway. The rooms are very nice and clean just VERY small. It is basically the size of a small bedroom - this was not a problem for us as we spent very little time actually in the hotel. So if your coming to NYC for the room size your going for the wrong reason.
Face/hand towels were hard to come by - again this was not a big deal for us but it may be for some people.

Those are the only minor complaints...this hotel is great and I would recommend it to anybody. I will be returning to the Ameritania next time I visit.

Room Tip: we heard getting a top floor was better due to noise - we were on the 10th floor and never heard a s...
