“Great hotel, great location!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel! My partner and I only had 4 days in New York so really wanted to make the most of it. The location was fantastic and we were a two minute walk from times square!! The staff were friendly and the room was a good size with a HUGE shower!!! I have nothing negative to say about this hotel and had a great stay! If your anything like us we pretty much only slept at the hotel as New York city is so awesome we spent most of the time exploring!! Hop on hop of bus tours and New York passes are definately the best way to see the city! :)

Ps. If the cabs not yellow- dont get in!!!!!!!!! $100 for a 15 minute taxi ride is not cool!!

Room Tip: Not sure what the other rooms looked like but we were on level 9 and our view was only of buildings

Dear Jaimee22, we are thrilled to hear that your stay was enjoyable and that you had the opportunity to experience some of NYC’s tours and attractions. It is truly a great city! The yellow cabs can be a bit tricky, and we are sorry to hear the cab ride was overpriced. In the future, we do offer transportation services to all New York airports provided by our bellmen staff. We can gladly assist you with these arrangements in the future. Looking forward to your business in the near future.

Kindest regards.

stayed here back in april. great location rooms were clean. reviews are not accurate. rooms aren't that small. construction didn't bother us. not as noisy- but we're early risers. close to everything.great bar (3 monkeys) next door. we had heard thru several blogs, etc. that the 4th floor was haunted. so on the last nite- we decided to do a little investigating. i have in my possesion at least 5 pictures w ith orbs, and other abnormalities. but the 1 picture that disturbs me is one i took. of a door. it seems to have a mans full face screaming out...... every single post, blog, etc that we used to book this hotel is now missing from the internet... seems kinda fishy to me. anyways- good hotel for the money, and other than the presense we felt in the room, and especially on the 4th floor- we had a great time. staff was fine, and very caring...

Room Tip: higher up will help with construction noise

Dear Urbagurba, thank you so much for your warm and spooky review, Even though our fourth floor is haunted it only occurs on Halloween between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Our staff works tirelessly to ensure all ghosts and goblins do not disturb our guests and wish for your return soon. Please contact us on your next visit to New York, we would be delighted to see you again!

Kindest regards

We stayed here for a weekend visit in September. The hotel itself was in a great location but be careful where you try to get something to eat, you are very close to time square and there are ton of restaurants that are overpriced tourist traps, even by NYC standards.

The room was a very good size especially for NYC and the bathroom itself was stunning... I know an odd thing to say but the shower was amazing and the bathroom vanity was perfect for getting ready for a night on the town. Now for the downside, we were given a room on the second floor (we asked for a higher floor but non were available)...so we had no view, unless you count the view of the construction site. I normally wouldnt have minded but I guess in NY they do construction on Saturdays so we were awaken at 7:00am to very loud construction noises. I think if you were in a different part of the hotel you would have been which is why i didnt give the hotel 3 stars (its not the hotels fault their is construction going on) To add insult to injury, our room was also located across the hall from the elevator so we were awaken a few times but the chatter in the hallway. Luckily the AC unit in the room was pretty loud so we set the fan to "on" so it was constantly running to drown out some of the noise which helped a lot. We did not talk to the front desk since we were only staying one more day but had we been staying in the hotel longer we would have requested a room change.

Also while the website bar boasted "best martini's" in the city the one time we tried to taste test, the bar was closed (3:30pm on a Saturday). The bar itself, no matter when we arrived back to the lobby was always empty. There were 2 bars right next door - three monkeys(typical bar fair) and iguana (mexican - try their Margarita's and avocado fries!)

Room Tip: Don't get a room across from the elevator. If you see construction outside your window change...

Dear Lala4583, we are truly sorry to hear that the construction from across the street prevented your stay from being more enjoyable. With pleasure we would have changed your room to a higher floor or a view from another side of the building if available. We do hope the construction is completed soon due to the inconvenience it may cause our guests. I do encourage you to contact me directly for your next visit once that construction is completed so that you can truly enjoy your stay with us at jmarmolejos@amsterdamhospitality.com. We will do our best to compensate for your previous stay and we wish you a great end of the year and happy upcoming holidays!

Kindest regards.

It was a good location for me - a fair walk from 42nd st though if that is important to you. The staff were pleasant and check in was drama-less thankfully. The in room dining was a little poor though - you are better off grabbing something from outside. On Saturday there was an average market on Broadway right next to hotel, running down to about 44th I believe. I was on the 11th floor, nice decor(if a little dark).

Dear QueenDP, thank you very much for your review. We are glad to hear your check-in process was smooth and to know that your encounter with our staff was positive. In regards to the in-room dining, I am very sorry to hear that the selection was not to your liking. We are currently still in the process of opening a new restaurant on site which will include a much greater variety of foods and beverages. We appreciate your time and will highly consider your review to continue to improve our facilities and services. We hope to see you again in the near future.

Kindest regards.

We stayed at the Ameritania our first time in NYC. This was during the holidays and we spent 5 days there, December 29 to January 1. We got to the hotel a good 4 hours before check in time and our room was not ready yet, however the hotel staff was so friendly and accomodating. They offered to hold our baggage until the room was ready so we decided to grab a bite to eat and walk around Times Square for an hour or two until we got a call that our room was ready. It was about an hour later that the call came and we went back to the hotel. We got the most amazing room on the top floor in the corner of the building. We were able to see Times Square from two angles. The room was VERY clean and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was newly remodeled. Bed was so comfortable that my husband kept saying that we need to find out where they get the pillows from so that we can purchase them for our house. I have only two things to note, that may have changed by now: 1 - the elevators are super slow. There's only about 8 floors in the building however it took about 5 minutes for the elevator to get to floor 8. 2 - there was alot of construction going on right next to the Ameritania which woke us up during the week. I imagine that the contruction is done by now and that problem has been resolved. We enjoyed staying here and would probably stay here again.

We stayed 8 nights at Ameritania starting 29th August 2012. Hotel has a superb location, only 5min walk to times square, and same for central park! Metro station is a 1 min walk!
Have to say, the first night we were assigned to room 304 (in the back of the hotel). It was horrible! After a long flight we were already awake for 24hours and still couldn't get any sleep because of all the noise outside (some airco unit producing a very annoying sound every half hour). Even earplugs didn't help! So for that room, and the window isolation...it's a big fail.

Next day we mentioned the noise in our room at the reception. They were really friendly and immediately booked us to another room. Our luggage would be waiting in our new room, all was taking care of!
Our new room (808) was stunning! Large windows, large room, view on broadway. Our say was superb! Quit room, very good beds (still miss that bed here!).
Same for the view at night. Will stay there again next time!

Room Tip: Ask a room on the street side! Rooms x08 have a double windows, stunning views guaranteed!
