I had to spend two weeks in NYC in September and previously, in the summer, I was there three weeks (Also at ON THE AVE HOTEL). The staff was so nice and helpful that when I came back to the hotel in the evenings it felt like I was coming home to a condominium or rental of my own.

My only disappointment was not being able to watch movies, though the TVs were beautiful, large, flat screens. I think I could have asked for a DVD player.

There used to be a restaurant attached to the hotel and I hope another real good one opens soon. There are plenty of great places to eat in the area and for breakfast one can go to the Manhattan Diner across the street.

New York is expensive in general, but I believe the hotel rates are competitive.

My husband and I stayed at OTA in early September. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They were genuinely nice and a huge help with unloading all of our stuff and transporting it to our room while my husband focused on parking our vehicle. The room was super nice and the size was perfect for us. Not too small, as you sometimes run into in NYC hotels. The location was also great - within walking distance of bars, restaurants and shopping. We would definitely stay at OTA again.

I stayed with On the Avenue on September 23rd and on September 27th 2010 and my experience began well at the beginning. Initially, I had a reservation problem and Tasha Soto who was working at the front desk provided professional, courteous and prompt service. Her assistance was not only productive but also reassuring and her congenial personality made me feel relaxed and welcomed. The room was clean, spacious and quiet. In all, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who lives in the US and abroad. The staff at on the avenue especially Tasha Soto were top notched.

In September 2010 my wife and I visited New York City for the first time and decided, after an exhausting search amongst hundreds of hotels on the internet, to choose for On The Ave.
On of the reasons was the presence of rooms with a balcony, which is rare in N.Y.C.
The taxi-driver who drove us from J.F.K. all the way to W.77th street knew all about On The Ave, although he advised us to pronounce it slower and more melodious, the Afro-American way.
Our love for N.Y.C and it's inhabitants was born in this cab and never decreased during our 6 days stay.
Our room wasn't ready yet when we arrived, but the staff noticed our disappointment and we immediately had the disposal of a temporary room to have a rest.
When our room with balcony and Hudson-views was ready, we came upon a box of chocolates and a written card with apologies for the inconvenience.
The room was no less than predicted on the internet: spacious for N.Y.C. standards, clean with a large balcony and the promised Hudson-view.
The staff was helpful and polite, the upper floors gave the opportunity to sit outside on a terrace to admire city views.
The location was perfect for us: near Central Parc, Underground, Starbucks and the Westside Market to buy food if we didn't want to eat outside.
Yes we will visit New York AND On The Ave again!
