GREAT, GREAT Hotel!!!!! From curbside to check in to room, flawless and smooth.

I've never met a happier hotel staff. And I mean everyone; from the doorman, to the check in clerk, to the bell hop, the house keeping, the maintenance.. Wow!

Upon check in they gave us a free upgrade to a Penthouse Suite. And as it was I had already gotten a great rate on the initial room.

King size bed in the room was the best ever, firm yet with a soft top to it. I didn't want to get out of it. The sheets were so soft..... And the best pillows! Most comfortable bed I've ever been in.

The two rooms to the suite were spotless, and very new looking. And with the suite there was a door onto a very large, wrap around balcony. And by large, I'm talking there is patio furniture on it. Very nice, great views.

The only glitch we had was a heating problem in the morning and maintenance had that fixed within 10 minutes of the phone call.

We left our bags and car at the hotel in the morning and came back at the end of the day to pick up things and head out.

I never like giving reviews to my hidden gems as then everyone starts going, but this place deserves your business. :)

Didn't get to try the restaurants.

Dana

I stayed at the NYLO and plan on returning for my future visits to NYC. It was a block down Central Park, near great restaurants and felt very clean and modern, yet rustic. The valet attendants and front desk staff were helpful. I was on the 11th floor with a street view and could not have been more pleased.

Room Tip: The higher the better.

We cannot say enough about this hotel. We were in town for a holiday show at Lincoln Center. The proximity to this venue is an 11 block cab ride. You can walk to Central Park and the Museum of Natural History. If you are really adventurous as we were, go through Central Park and enter at Central Park West to the south end of the park, pass Tavern on the Green and head onto 5th avenue by the Plaza Hotel. We strolled along 5th Avenue and took in all of the holiday displays as well as Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral.
The staff is exceptional...from the moment you enter.! They are very accommodating!
The rooms are comfortable: great mattress, modern conveniences, and very clean.

Room Tip: The only negative comment I have is that a condominium is being built adjacent on the west side of t...

The NYLO was a wonderful surprise for our group: a warm and inviting lounge area with music nightly, bar, adjacent sports bar area with TV, family game area-- and full of people every night. The location was close to small, neighborhood restaurants, convenient to subway and blowing up balloons for Macy's parade. The guest room was small but sleek and modern. Restaurant on first floor. VERY inviting hotel. A real find on the upper west side

Room Tip: Ask for room with Broadway view.

We recently stayed at the NYLO while visiting New York in December. The hotel is conveniently located on the East side in Midtown. There were several markets in the area for picking up breakfast or lunch snacks as well as unique restaurants, not surrounded by chain type eateries. There are two subway stations nearby making it easy to reach other parts of the city. Central Park is just a few blocks away. The hotel itself had very friendly staff with an in house restaurant and a cozy bar. The bed was very comfortable and loved the night lights attached to the headboard. The rooms are clean though small with interesting, very modern decor. Our room was on the street side so we did experience some street noise well into the early morning hours the first night, some type of loading truck. The bath was large but had no counter space. We would stay again.

Room Tip: Avoid the street side.

We have been here before and like the location so much that this hotel is a staple in NYC.
The standard room is ok. Two things were unappealing: bed to sink in-too too soft for me, and hair ventilation-so loud that it was like a wind tunnel in the room. So, we turned the heat off at night.
Since we stayed in this hotel, 5 years ago, we never had a good view. So, not really exciting that we could not see what the weather was like, or even get a ray of sunlight. But I have to say that we never paid more than 300$ to go up in floors and have a view on other things than bricks.
This time, there were constructions right beside, so the noise started around 6:30-7 AM.
The room is very clean; a bit of paint to retouch would help. Nice bathroom and shower.
Soundproof walls.
The high of the hotel is the amazing neighborhood; nothing is better than Upper West Side when you want to be in NYC and feel like you can live in Manhattan.

Room Tip: Pay more and go up several floors to see some natural light.
