“Great hotel, nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This is the second time I have stayed at NYLO. The front desk is extremely nice and suggested several good restaurants in the area. The lobby is very attractive, with a lively bar and cozy chairs. Many people were hanging out in the lobby. I love the rooms. While small, they are tastefully decorated in shade of blues and gray with a very comfortable bed. If I could I would bring the bathroom home with me, it was that nice. There is also a rooftop bar with good views of the city.
The NYLO is easy to get to on the 1 subway. Central Park and the Natural History Museum are a short walk away. There are many restaurants at all price points, same with the shops. It was fun just exploring the neighborhood. This is certainly the hotel to stay at if you want to be on the Upper West side.

I stayed here for one night - the rooms are small which is to be expected in New York but the big problem is the noise. The walls / divding doors between rooms must be very thin because I could hear everything from the next room - the poeple we're not being particularly noisy (they had children) but because there is no sound insulation it makes for a very unrelaxed stay. There is also a lot of noise from outside at night.

I asked if they could move me to another room which was quieter and was told they were full.

The bed was very comfortable but some pillow cases had holes in and the bathroom had a lot of hair (I presume from last guest or room service), so they really need to ensure the rooms are cleaned better.

The bar and lounge area are very nice and relaxed but service is very poor - I sat waiting for about 15 minutes without being offered a drink and the staff in the bar / lounge area were often not around so you have to catch their attention. I also ate in the attached restaurant Serafina where I found the service again to be very poor.

NYLO is a small, very stylish hotel in a wonderful location. The staff uniformly are attentive and skilled, whisking people through check in and accommodating early and late arrivals with grace and ease. The room I had was small and cleverly furnished so that everything one would need was within easy reach without making the space feel crowded. Though I was on the second floor the street noise was minimal (and the windows open, a plus for a fresh air fiend) even on a Friday night. The proximity of wonderful museums (Historical Society, Natural History) eateries (saw Sam Waterson picking up groceries at Fairway while heading to their cafe for a terrific breakfast) and subway are added advantages. Well worth the reasonable charge and a return visit!!

I stayed there in the beginning of July. Had a few days off and wanted a romantic night away with my boyfriend. The room was a bit tiny but the extra large balcony with gorgeous views of the river and park more than made up for it. As did the incredible staff that could not have been nicer. ANd we slept great, the beds are amazing.
Hotel is in a great location, 2 blocks from Central Park and 2 block from the Natural History Museum. Tons of great restaurants and an incredible old Irish pub, Dublin House, right around the corner.
On monday when I received a call about a job interview 15 minutes before check out the staff really stepped up to help me out. Stuck in Manhattan, they held onto our luggage so we could still hit up the museum and have lunch and finish the romantic weekend. Then when I had to run to Marshalls, which is half a block away to buy a new outfit for my interview, the staff gave me scissors to cut off the tags. I was able to get ready in the lobby bathroom and use the office to print out my resume. They kept me calm and wished me luck. They made an awkward situation feel totally normal. I got the job and had an awesome time in the process. I cant thank them enough.

NYLO is perfectly located on the West side two blocks from the 1 train. All you need for daily life is in walking distance. The hotel is modern, clean, inexpensive and friendly. I am definitely coming back. Great beds as well and very quiet.

very good, clean. Quite small given it was a 'Superior" room. Staff all wonderful, but ac unit kept waking me up and that's the reason for an average rating for sleep quality. The bed and pillows themselves were terrific!

Arrived to very friendly doormen and staff. The foyer has been tastefully renovated with delightful bar and lounge complete with piano and music in the eve. Alas, my delight was short lived. A room I had reserved with two double beds for three of us was not available - was told there was a leak. They had taken down the wrong phone number so could not reach me. "Upgraded" us to a suite with one bed and a cot. The cot was awful, thin mattress and extremely noisy every time I turned. Also, took up the little lounge so could not benefit from the 'suite". Needless to say, could not sleep. Also noticed a leak maybe in the closet adjoining the bathroom. I understand the actual bed was good. Had to call three times for an extra blanket and twice for a third towel. Was on second floor facing parking lot. Quite a bit of street noisy until about midnight. We received a $50 discount but frankly would have chosen another hotel had I known.
We did end up holding a small gathering on the 16th floor terrace, a definite plus to the place. The bartender on the 16th floor was exceptional. Took really good care of us! Ordered food quite effortlessly from restaurant downstairs for the gathering on terrace. Food itself was not great.
In summary, really nice people work there, nice bar/ terrace. Other than that disappointing. If I could be guaranteed a good bed, it would be a good place.

Room Tip: Nice, friendly staff Nice space in lounge to hang out Nice bar intimate 16th floor terrace
