“Lived up to the good reviews and more!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Booked this hotel, back in February 2013, as the trip advisor reviews were really good.

Arrived in August 2013 and was really impressed with the whole experience. The hotel is located in upper west Manhattan, a nice residential neighbourhood and just a short walk to local deli's, shops, great restaurants, bars and pubs. Ideally situated for main New York attractions and is also convenient for the metro line on 79th street.

The Lucerne is a beautiful building and tastefully decorated throughout. Exceptionally clean, the standard of room service was consistent throughout our 4 night stay. The bed was really comfortable and the room was very quite; we had a room on 10th floor overlooking Amsterdam Avenue.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and provided a fridge and coffee making facilities, on request, and at no extra cost. I would wholly recommend this hotel.

We have been staying at the Lucerne Hotel, since 2008; and this landmark hotel has become "our home away from home." The familiar staff are friendly, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile for repeat customers. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and quiet. Even though our family members have moved further uptown, we still elect to stay at this hotel because of our comfort level. The neighborhood provides convenient shopping, restaurants, grocery stores, and transportation. This location also is ideal for museum goers.

Room Tip: Ask for a room off the street for a quiet night's sleep.

Finding a hotel that comfortably and affordably fits a family of 5 was not easy. We felt very lucky to have found the Lucerne and stayed for 9 nights. . Sure, the rates for a larger room on Upper West side are generally not cheap, but the Lucerne was VERY good value for a sizeable room with kitchenette, plenty of bedding, 2 TVs, bathroom, air conditioning, free wifi and large wardrobes. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are spotless, quiet and the beds are excellent. the decor may not be the hippest in town, but rooms and the hotel in general is very clean and location is fantastic. It's close to everything and it is an excellent neighbourhood for eating, sightseeing and shopping. A run in Central Park every morning was a highlight.

Room Tip: The double queen easily sleeps family of 5 with the pull out sofa.

Great staff and accommodations, enjoyed location and pleasantness of location. Easy to get into town and navigate throughout the city. We stayed nearly one week and did not want to leave for many reasons.

The hotel is beautiful the people that work there are wonderful. If you stay on the upper westside make this your first choose. The location is great and the surroundings are beautiful. Walk to Central Park and may other sites you will like to see. Charming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is New York at it finest.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Lucerne. The room was a good size, and had all the facilities we required, including an iron and ironing board, safe, free Wifi, hair dryer, umbrella etc. The furnishings were charming, and the staff were very helpful and very accommodating. An added friendly touch was the wine and cheese hours held in the foyer three times a week. This was a great location, one block from the subway, yet away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. We would certainly stay here again!

Wonderful hotel on the Upper West Side. Great staff and excellent restaurant onsite. Close to Lincoln Center, Central Park, and the Museum of Natural History. Lovely neighborhood for shopping and eating out, with a drugstore right across the street.
