“Strategic position in NYC, fair price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

The hotel is good for visiting NYC. It is near the subway stop. The sourrounding roads are not that much noisy as one would expect in NYC (I was on the 4th floor). My room was on a corner (double superior) and it was spaceful. The price was reasonable compared to other city hotels. It faces Amsterdam ave and you may find lots of good restaurants nearby. Also Central Park and the most important NY museums (Metropolitan and Natural History) are not so far to be reached just walking.

This is a wonderful place for those wanting to be near Central Park, The Met Museum, the Frick, Natural Museum of History etc.

Also, while there were guests of varying ages, it was a great find to discover a hotel that has a 'grown up' feel---not the crazed, noisy, frantic atmosphere I associate w large, 'convention' hotels--however nice those hotels may be.

Room Tip: When I booked the hotel, the only rooms available were 'queen'--I asked to change us to a l...

This hotel is a real find and a relative bargain as New York hotels go. Our room was small, but not tiny by New York standards. The tub was minuscule but not a problem if you prefer showers, of course.

The hotel a few short steps from the subway so easy to get downtown. And it's in a real neighborhood. Which means good local restaurants with reasonably priced food and reasonable variety. And also means none of the schlocky stores and dismal restaurants of the Times Square variety.

Close to the Museum of Natural History and a short cab ride to the Metropolitan Museum.

Final note: both the hotel and the neighborhood were quieter than other parts of New York where we've stayed.

Stayed here one night for work and was pretty impressed.
Convenient to subway and lots of great dining nearby. Room is small but fine for one or two people. Small but sufficient work-out room.
The wifi was intermittent in my room but it was fine in the lobby.
They have overnight parking nearby in a lot that is discounted (you just need to have it validated at the front desk).

Room Tip: In general, I always ask for a higher up floor when I am in a big (noisy) city

I have stayed at the Lucerne four different times and have always had a fantastic stay. The location is exceptionally convenient with shops, restaurants, museums, the subway and everything else a traveller seeks nearby. Yet it is still homey with all the schools and playgrounds and, of course, Central Park all within short-walking distance. After the hustle and bustle of the downtown sights and shopping, it feels welcoming to stay at the Lucerne. I almost feel that I am more than a visitor to NYC, like I have found a home.

A very good value for the money. Not super-fancy, but pretty posh nonetheless. Sort of "Business Class," rather than "First Class," which is still VERY nice. The location is exceptional, so count that for a lot!

This is a gem of a spot in the midst of a grand city. I always feel safe and welcomed! The staff is friendly, helpful, and has excellent suggestions for dining and entertainment. Our company has had our committee members stay at this hotel for many years. After long working hours, everyone enjoys returning to the Lucerne and appreciates the welcoming atmosphere.
