This quaint hotel has lovely rooms, lovely staff and lovely hotel in general. The hotel is also in a great location of the city. The restaurant which is adjacent to the hotel has a wonderful breakfast.

Our check-in experience was simple and quick. The lobby was spotless. They were having a wine tasting for guests when we checked in. How's THAT for a welcome! The room was on the small side but it was just fine. One of the greatest museums in the WORLD, the American Museum of Natural History, is a 10 minute walk away. Zabars, one of the most famous deli's in the WORLD, is on the next block - literally. One night we just picked up an assortment of yummy deli salads and sandwiches. It was DELICIOUS!
The restaurant was good - they have you as a captive audience, which is why we went there the first night. But here's a useful tidbit. Right across the street is a little Italian restaurant called Coppolas. It looks like a dive from the entrance. It is not. It was great. They make a vodka sauce for pasta which sounds weird. It was delicious!! There is also a lovely coffee shop a half a block west on 79th St called Irving Farm. I had a delicious latte with a Whitefish salad on a bagel one morning. So good.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room as high up in the building as is available. We had a view of the Hudson River...

This hotel was great! Great West side location near Natural History Museum, Central Park and Hudson River at 79th and Amsterdam. NiceMatin restaurant in the hotel was also nice for breakfast and dinner. The room was generous, well appointed and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for upgrade to suite with view of the river.

Maybe most of the good reviews here were made by clients staying at top rooms, but if you book a superior queen (the name is mischievous, since it is the most basic room, there is no standard room below it), dont expect much. I have never seen a 4 star hotel with so little ammenities. There were no Minibar on the room, and only plastic cups. I asked for some glasses, but the room service did not bother to clean them up. The room was very small, 12 sqr meter at most, we couldnt even open our luggage confortably. The bathtub wih curtain and very small was disappointing, as well as the stone age air conditioning. Finally, the bed was very uncfrtable, a mild movement would shake the bed terribly. If you are expecting a really 4 star hotel, you dont belong here! Only positive things are its location and friendly staff.

Excellent hotel with good service, clean and comfortable rooms, staff very friendly and the food amazing in the restaurant and room service. The hotel is conveniently situated near the metro and there are lots of excellent shops, restaurants and markets. My daugther and I stayed here for 6 nights and didn't want to leave! Would highly recommend this hotel.

I would even be more satisfied if I was assigned a quiet room. It was interesting to see that the hotel is very child-friendly and that important musea and the Mertropolitan Opera are in walking distance from the hotel. A surplus is the vicinity of the metro.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the streets

First time visitors at Lucerne, and just can't say enough good things about the hotel. Very reasonable rates (under $ 200.00 in the Upper West Side!) and a free room upgrade at check-in, rooms very nice size and very well appointed, beautiful, large and clean, roomy bathrooms, just perfect. Very friendly, very helpfull staff. NIce Matin, their restaurant, is very good as well... Go and enjoy. I Couldn't make a higher recommendation for the area and the price.
