“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2012

Travelled on the 7th to the 12th of December 2011
On arrival at the hotel the check in was smooth, no delay. Our party of seven required two rooms (5 adults and 2 kids), these were allocated on different floors. However on check-in , we requested the two rooms on the same floor, this was not a problem and was done instantly. The porter was very friendly and gave us information on the hotels facilities. There is a diner attached to the hotel that is excellent value and we had breakfast there every morning. The hotel has an arrangement with the Theatre Diner, which is nearby, to provide room service. We availed of this twice and it was excellent value, a portion for one would do two people adequately. Food nice and hot upon delivery.
No problem with this hotel would recommend this to anyone and would stay here again. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square twice and this was excellent value, however we had a bad experience at TGI Fridays on 5th Avenue. Very expensive, food not great, and the wait to be seated long for the poor service that we received.
Anyone travelling with a large party would be well advised to use the service obtained by the Hotel for airport transfers. The driver took 7 passengers with 8 large cases and 3 hand luggage sized cases with no problem, rate very reasonable - 130 dollars.
We went to Central Park for ice skating. It was a great day out, excellent value. There was markets at Central Park, great value and it passed a few hours looking at the produce.
We visited the Empire State Building and would advise to avail of the fast track that was being sold by Sales Reps on the street in the surrounding area of the Builiding. It saved us hours of queuing and meant we had more time to visit other tourist attractions.

After we had our horrible experience at the Hotel Carter we found this diamond in the rough.

located 3 blocks from Times Square on 42nd street, this place is very affordable (at the right time of year). They have their own parking garage for guests and it doesn’t cost any extra to park with them.

The rooms are basic... nothing more then you want, and nothing less then you need. They are big enough to easily fit 4 people and luggage.

I have not gone into the pool myself... but I have felt the water and it didn’t give me that gross chlorine feeling... and didn’t smell bad either.

I would HIGHLY suggest the Travel Inn Hotel for the budget traveler... if your dates are flexible.

Room Tip: Ask to be put in a room further away from the train tracks to cut down on that noise

We spent our Christmas Holiday in New York and reserved at Travel Inn.

It's the perfect place to visit the city : on the 42nd st near time square, Port Authority Station and Holy Cross Church.

The hotel rooms are clean and large, the parking is free and you can find a deli for breakfeast on the same sidewalk. Staff is eager to help and very friendly.

Who could ask for more when you pay such a low rate ?

We will undoutedly stay there for our next time in NYC.

Room Tip: the rate for double double is the best bargain

Thank you so much for your review and we are delighted that your stay was such a good one. The Travel Inn is the only hotel in New York City that offers free parking and the deli next door is a favorite of all of ours. We look forward to your next stay with us.

Stayed 4 nights in november. The hotel is good as well as the staff, location is good, but the rooms needs some improvement regarding the air condition/heater system (it was really really hot. I had to take a cold/cool bath and lay on the bed without shirt and blanket on, in order to fall sleep). watch out when standing on the bathtub, because it is very slippery (above average). wireless signal is weak.
on the other hand, the room is spacy, good tv, and there was a mini refrigerator (I dont remember if there was a microwave).
all in all it's a great value, and if you're looking for a place near times square or the port authority terminal requiring 2 double beds, you may want to look for this hotel.

I've travelled around America a lot, and through several cities so I was expecting a small room. However, with the 2 double beds (as requested) the room was a very good size; ample room for 3 and shopping!
Bathroom was clean, shower was good and plenty of hot water. Room also had a fridge and large closet. Only issue I had with beds was that they use comforters, which are not as nice as duvets (but that's an American thing!)
We requested a high room facing the street - of which some street noise was heard (expected) but very minimal and didn't impact our sleep whatsoever.
Location was excellent, very safe as you're also opposite a 24 hour CVS and police station and other chain stores.
Elevators were a little terrifying, but stairs were always an option (being on the 6th floor - it wasn't one that we often took!).
Front desk staff were very helpful and desk was manned 24 hours (from what we could see!). There was even a room to leave luggage after we checked out, as our flight wasn't until later in the day; our transport to the airport was even arranged for us (much cheaper than a yellow cab!) Minimal charge for wi-fi, but of the 7 nights we stayed there - we were only charged once due to the nature of the staff, which was much appreciated!
Overall, excellent stay and value for money - would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: Request a room with a fridge; and a high up, street facing room for some minor noise but quiet withi...

Stayed here for 3 nights with our 2 teenage daughters mid-December. Yes, it s a very basic hotel, but for the price, the location, and the free parking, it cannot be beat! It was absolutely spotless, and larger than most hotel rooms in the price range, and you can walk to Times Square! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who does not insist on the glitz and glamour you can get at some of the hotels in the city!

I thank you for your kind review. Our housekeeping staff keeps the rooms and public areas impeccable and I believe this is partly what sets us apart from other hotels since we really all offer the same amenities. We look forward to your next stay with us soon.

Our family of four stayed one night prior to boarding a Christmas cruise.

pros-good location, clean, inexpensive
-loud group smoking around pool area near our room, called front desk and security came right up and kicked them out.

cons-walls too thin (heard everything in the room next door), old matresses felt like rocks

Due to cons, probably would'nt stay here again
