“Good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

Stayed at Shoreham in July with husband and 15 year old son. Found the Shoreham by searching internet for one bedroom suite. Shoreham offered a decent price, free internet & breakfast buffett. Room was clean, maybe a bit worn around the edges but the bed was comfortable and the overall space was more than appropriate for the amount of time spent in the room. Great shower with hot water. Air unit did not cool that well, asked for a fan which made it comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great location. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Sleeper sofa was actually a futon and will only accommodate one teenager or maybe two small children...

Stayed in a one bedroomed suite and have only positive views on this hotel. Room was spotless and cleaned every day of our 8 day stay to a very high standard. The location is superb, with easy access to Times square or Central park being just around the corner. My wife , daughter and I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were also extremely helpful as and when required. all in all a superb holiday made all the better by the excellent hotel

Dear Tammus,

Thank you for taking your time and leaving us a review on trip advisor. I am pleased to learn that you were very happy with the hotel and that out location was convenient for you. The major shops, tourist attractions, subways and restaurants definitely add a finishing touch to the hotel. I would like to invite you and your daughter back the next time you are in NYC!

We look forward to seeing you,

What used to be "location, location, location" is now "in need of renovation, renovation, renovation. Once a longtime favorite that I could always count on, this hotel is on the skids with apparently no plans for upgrades in the works per the manager. Areas in need of work: cleaner rooms, fitness room is a joke with broken equipment, etc., etc. Unfortunately, until they do something soon, I'll have to move on to another property.

Room Tip: Find another property.

I have been a loyal Shoreham guest for almost 15 years. To me, it was my home away from home in NYC. When I pulled up in the cab, a smile came to my face. No more. I have watched it go down hill for the last three years. They have clearly changed their business model from wanting Kimpton type guests, to young Eurotrash who don't know a good hotel from a dump. The people who work there are still young and nice. But the rooms are not clean, the gym equipment and business center computers don't work, and - tragedy of tragedies - the espresso setting on the espresso machine does not work. This was after cutting the access to the machine down to the mornings. How would you like to find a half eaten salad in your fridge? Or a dirty room? I am so sad, but it is time to face facts and move on to a NYC Kimpton..

My mother, teenage daughter and I stayed at The Shoreham while in town for a conference. The location was perfect! We were only a couple of blocks from Central Park, the metro, shops, restaurants, etc.

We chose this hotel because of the reviews and for the reasonable prices. We got a weekly rate on a one bedroom suite that was significantly lower than the other hotels in the area. Upon check in, we were upgraded to a two bedroom suite (same price) which was great because my daughter could have her own room, my mother could have her own room, and I slept in the living area on the couch. We asked for the mini bar to be cleared and used the fridge to store snacks and water. There was a huge bathroom with a three-nozzle shower and a full tub with additional shower. The hotel has free wifi in the lobby, a fitness area, and a bar that was packed on Thursday (80s night). Everything is very deco/modern and many of the staff members have been here for years.

There is a small organic style grocery around the corner where we purchased some food for meals. There are multiple food trucks and carts a block away with fabulous items for breakfast and lunch. Dunkin donuts is next door as well as a delicious Chinese place called Tang Pavilion where you can order online and pick up.

There were a few negatives at this hotel. The room fixtures were older and the carpets, while clean, needed to be replaced. The heat/AC worked in the bedrooms but not in the main room and the cable only worked on some channels (we had three TVs). The AC cycled on and off at intervals which kind of cooled the room - it could have been better. We didn't spend much time in the room and did not ask for repairs. The staff was excellent at fielding our other requests - we needed ice for an ankle injury, extra towels, and bedding for the couch.

In comparison with others at our conference, we really got a great deal. The amount of space was phenomenal in comparison to other rooms in the area, and we paid a fraction of the price. If you just need a clean place in a great location, this is the hotel for you.

The shining star of the Shoreham Hotel is its location. It's located within walking distance of Rockefeller Center, Central Park, and all the shopping you could want on 5th Avenue.

Our room was tiny, but that's to be expected. We were placed in an interior room (614, I think?) with the window facing the escape stairs. It was dead quiet. We did not hear a thing from the street or from any other guest. The bed was very comfortable as well.

Room Tip: Choose an interior room that's not facing the street. Ours was super quiet!
