We booked a pretty last minute stay here for a long weekend with some friends that had never been to NYC. This hotel is in a good position in midtown, just a few blocks from Times Square, which is where they wanted to be. The room my husband booked was a pretty basic corner room with a queen bed. Loved the pillows, the bed, not so much (all my reviews have strict bed reviews but now I'm six months pregnant so I'm even stricter haha). Our room had what I think is called a rain shower shower and felt really modern and newer than the rest of the room. We were on the 11th floor, so no real view, although the hotel isn't a skyscraper anyway. The lobby also seems to be a lounge and bar area that is dimly lit and seems like a nice place for happy hour even if you aren't a hotel guest. My friends went one night while I took a nap and they said the prices were steep, but hey you're in a NYC hotel bar so what do you want? The room had a mini fridge but it was full of chasers and mini bottles that were crazily priced so we made sure not to touch. Within a block or two there is a diner, Duane reed and dunkin donuts we enjoyed visiting. The staff were very friendly the whole stay. While I probably wouldn't go again because I'm not one to stay in he same hotel twice, I would recommend it, just don't get the most basic room.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Morgans commissioned Roman Williams, to re-create Royalton's legendary lobby. The design - simultaneously sophisticated and complex - juxtaposes an icy cast-glass vestibule and brass furnishings with soft suede upholstery, thick leather walls and hide-covered chairs to create a dark, sexy and luxurious space. Design and architectural details include a mammoth floor-to-ceiling hand forged cast-bronze fireplace, a twenty-foot screen that was once part of the facade of a building in France and hand-upholstered leather walls. ... more less
