The best thing this hotel has going for it is its location -- 44th bet. 5th and 6th, great for museums, shows and shopping.
The lobby is oddly designed and to my mind offputting. Most of it is taken up by it's high density hipster bar crowd. My wife and I walked right past the two small semi-hidden windows that serve as the guest registry desk.
We stayed two nights -- the first in their standard queen size room. Avoid this at all costs -- it's barely big enough for one person, intolerable for two. We were upgraded the following night to a king-size room which was infinitely more comfortable.
So we were feeling pretty good when we checked out. Unfortunately we had to check our luggage because we had a few hours before our train.
I say "unfortunate" because when we returned to reclaim our luggage my wife's garment bag containing an expensive overcoat was missing.
The staff assured us that when the person who was given the bag discovered the error we would be immediately contacted.
That was three days ago. I've left two messages with the manager who gave me her card. Neither has been returned and, needless to say, neither has my wife's coat.
Maybe we were just unlucky but we won't be returning to the Royalton anytime soon. Meanwhile we await either a return call or a returned coat.
