“Good hotel, good midtown location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Stayed here a couple times.

Pretty good midtown location at 61/Park. Not too far from subway.

Good value for price.

My only gripe is that I'd like to see coffee maker in room,
and I hate the minifridge that has the movement sensors, so that you can't even add your own beverage without getting charged for something you didn't consume.

The fitness center is pretty well stocked (only gripe there is consistent with just about every other hotel: the big balance/medicine balls are underinflated)

Staff was friendly.

This is the perfect place to stay while visiting NYC. The location is fabulous. The Upper East side is a great place to start your day. Be sure to walk one short mile to the East River and get on the aerial tram to Roosevelt Island. This is a spectacular way to escape the noise and congestion of the city. If you can go at night, the better! The lights of the big apple are dazzling. The neighborhood immediately surrounding the Lowe's has several small diners offering something that can be difficult to find in NYC...good food at a very reasonable price.
This hotel is just a short walk to Central Park, FAO Schwartz, the Metropolitan Museum, St. Patricks Cathedral, Radio City Music Hall and many other must see landmarks. It is also just steps from major subway stations for destinations that are further out.
But the best thing about this hotel is the people that work there. Like I find most all New Yorkers to be, they are warm, friendly people that greet you and engage you with genuine warmth and sincerity. They made me feel that they really were interested in how my day exploring the city went and offered any assistance that I made need. I know, all hotel personnel do this. But not the way they staff at Lowe's do. They expressed a sincere interest that I have never found at any hotel, and I have stayed in quite a few.
If still offered, be sure to take advantage of the free ride to ANY destination in Manhattan offered by Fiat. We declined it on several occasions fearing the potential torture of being enclosed in a vehicle with a car salesman. But there never was a sales push. The driver took us to our chosen location, the Apollo Theater in Harlem, without batting an eye or pushing for a sale. It proved to be a nice break from walking or riding the trains.
Also be sure to check out the TV that is embedded in the bathroom mirror. I don't know how to describe it except to say it must be magic. Enjoy your stay!

Love the Loews location - A block walk from Madison Avenue and a turn either way takes you up or down the posh shopping street with it's luxury boutiques. You are removed from the touristy areas of Central Park, yet they are an easy three block walk, if you want to head that direction, as are Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodmans.

Recently renovated, the Loews is "up to the minute" chic. The rooms are exceedingly comfortable, though the bathrooms are on the small side (tub and shower the same).
The staff, especially the doormen are sincerely friendly and very helpful.

FYI, the Loews hosts a "power breakfast," Monday through Friday. So if planning on breakfast there, be prepared to sit a few minutes at the bar with a cup of coffee and wait for a table to open up. In the meantime, watch the movers and shakers of NYC nibble and negotiate over eggs and bacon. While I was there both Eliot Spitzer and Al Sharpton were spotted - (not at the same table) - thank heavens.

I look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Check to see if double rooms are larger.

The Regency has been around for a long time in NY. They recently revamped the hotel for the better. It's lost some of the quaintness in the bar and dinning area, but for the most part, all new refurnishing and new construction is for the better. The lobby is great.
Rooms are more up to date. What really makes this hotel is the services. From the restuarnt to room service... All very good.

Cons: Front desk could be a little more helpful and friendlier. Not enough people helping out at the front desk. There is a elementry school that faces the back of the hotel.
It can get a little loud in the morning and during breaks.

Pros: Service was great! Great location to shopping and everything else in Midtown.

Room Tip: Try for a higher level room that faces Park Ave.

Really good location if you have children. The room wasnt very large but it was super clean and nice. The tv in the bathroom mirror was really cool. Great bar to hang out downstairs. Service was top notch and the gym had really nice new equipment.

Made traveling with a handicapped spouse easy and enjoyable. Room and bathroom in a handicapped accessible room quite pleasant experience. Staff was friendly and helpful, especially doorman. Great location with good restaurants in the neighborhood.

Great except for the noise from the elevators if you are staying in a 2 bedroom suite. The two bedroom suite was large with a great master bathroom. Requested a quiet room and ended up listening to three elevators go up and down.

James M, General Manager at Loews Regency New York Hotel, responded to this review, yesterday
Candace M: Thank you so much for your feedback. I apologize your sleep was not as restful as it should have been. I am a light sleeper myself and feel badly we could not have put you into a quieter part of the hotel. The top floor is beautiful...and has tremendous views - but your particular bedroom configuration will need to be looked at for further sound-proofing. Please feel free to contact me directly before your next trip to New York. I am happy to personally oversee your reservation.

Warmly,

Jim
