“Noisy, but excellent location!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

I stayed in the Masnfeild during my trip to New York! The location was the best in this choice. Very close to the Times Square, offers free coffee and Cappucino and complimentary internet access in the business center. However, the rooms are very small!!! AC is noisy and lights are very poor!!! Staff were very helpful but I was charged $10 to my credit card after a while of checking out the hotel and still do not know why!!!

Room Tip: E-mail the staff a day before saying you need a spacious room and you might be lucky to get one. I w...

The room was very nicely decorated and had some great elements such as the wood floors and panel doors between rooms, but the lighting was horrible, the AC so WAY TOO noisy and the phone in the room didn't work. Overall it wasn't bad for a one night stay, but I wouldn't want to be staying longer. Average value for NY.

Excellent location in mid town. Boutique hotel with trendy decor. Very clean. Relatively friendly staff. Nice shower. However our room was noisy at night due to thin windows and noisy a/c. And room lights insufficient. Good value for money

This beautiful historic, non-descript hotel is great if you need to be near Times Square or the NY Public Library but want to save a little money. I highly recommend getting the junior suite, however, because the standard rooms are very, very small. Great bar/restaurant on ground floor, cool libraries all over and a great, creepy feel in the hallways. Marble and wood everywhere. Downside: window-unit A/C, little view, very small rooms, no ice machine/iron (would bring up to room upon request), very small bathroom, no large mirror in bathroom (shaving mirror instead). Positives: Clean, minimal decoration, free internet, minifridge (stocked but some room for your own stuff), great room service menu, gym, Aveda toiletries. Good for business/travelling alone (unless you get a bigger room).

Room Tip: Ask for the junior suite!!!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is a walk away from most things we wanted to see and do over a long weekend. Room was comfortable, but lacked a place next to the bed and in the bathroom to place items. Lighting was stylish but a little on the low level side. No ironing board. Had to call the desk for ice. Service was very quick whenever requested. Heating/air system was noisy even when air conditioner was off. Must be part and parcel of the old building HVAC system. Bathroom had shower that was 'walk in'. Nice and roomy. Requested a late check out and it was cheerfully given.

Check out the Lamb's Club restaurant down the block for breakfast. It is a top notch luxury experience.

Room Tip: This was our second trip to the Mansfield. The basic room is quite small for two people. This time...

Highly recommend The Mansfield! I stayed in a jr. suite with a very comfortable living area and seperate bedroom/bathroom. The location was excellent--just off 5th Ave. Staff was very warm and welcoming. Lovely little reading room off of lobby with complimentary coffee/tea service

When I booked via booking.com, I made a special request for a room with a bathtub. I emailed ahead to ask for early check in. When I arrived at 9 am, I was told they would email me and hoped to give me a room by 1 pm, usual check in is 3. They took my luggage and stored it for me which was nice and offered a complimentary bottle of water.

There is free wifi in Macys but no email from the hotel? I returned at 3 only to find out they had misspelled my name so the email was never received and the room they assigned me had a shower, no bath! Then I was changed to another room with a noisy fan. I turned off the power to the A/C unit in the wall under the window but still the noise was there! The room was so dimly lit it was depressing with black window shutters looking into a wall. They changed me to another room and this time the room went quiet when I turned off the power to the AC.

Having no kettle in the room is really inconvenient as it meant getting up to go to the front of the hotel to use the cappucino machine which had no milk by the machine.

There is construction going on outside this hotel with constant drilling sounds during the day, even on Saturday, so no lying in.

The bed is comfortable. The floors are wooden so hard on feet without any slippers. No bathrobe, no slippers.

Eat breakfast at the Red Flame cafe which is on the same block 44th street but closer to 6th avenue. The hotel is closer to 5th avenue.
