“Great View, Location, and Spacious Rooms!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed here from April 11th to the 14th, 2015. Upon arrival, Edita welcomed us with a friendly smile and was very helpful. She was exceptional in her kind service to us and really made our stay even more enjoyable.

We were given a room with an incredible view of Central Park. This view was so amazing! The rooms are very spacious, especially for New York. We were really impressed with the size of each room. The location of the hotel is the best. It is right across the street from Central Park and so close to 5th Avenue. We will definitely be staying here next time we are in New York.

From the room, we could hear the guests in the other rooms talking and laughing. Luckily, our neighboring guests didn't stay up too late or get too loud. However, if you need a quiet room I would request a room that may be away from others or not have a connecting door to another room.

The location is fantastic for exploring New York. We had a room on the 12th floor with a magnificent view of central park, well worth the extra. The rooms are tired and vey dated. The restaurant is magnificent with its tall windows and view of the park. The staff are plain rude. There was a confusion regarding my booking including breakfast. It was there fault but they insisted i go to reception to sort it out. I explained i was staying for three days and i didnt want towaste family time by sorting their error out. The waiter reluctantly allowed us to access the buffet but warned me this cost would be taken out of his wages if i was wrong. They were wrong but i had no apology. My daughter left a few dollars worth of change by her bed including a gold dollar she wanted to keep. When we returned at midday the money was gone. I politely complained to reception and was made to feel like a moaner for raising the point. I could see the thoughts running through the receptionists head, "you paid $800 to stay hear, you can afford to lose a few dollars". The money reappeared later in the day. The hotel is great value for money when you compare it to others either side. Just need a training course in BASIC customer service. Day 1, smile. Day 2, remember guests paid to stay here. Day 3, if you dont like serving people find another industry to work in

Room Tip: Park view is essential, at 6 in the morning when sun is rising it is spectacular

Hotel is situated directly across the street form Central Park. On our first night there, upon arrival, we noticed that the AC unit was leaking and informed the lobby. They sent up a maintenance man who inspected the water damage, left and cam back with a vacuum and spent about 45 minutes cleaning the water while we basically just looked at him. Asked if we could be moved and were told that hotel was full. Fine with me, things happen but not even an apology or follow up from the front desk. Due to this mishap, I will look elsewhere for my stay when in town.

This was my second stay at the Park Lane hotel and I came back because the location is just awesome and the hotel is comfortable, with spacious rooms which seem newly renovated

When you exit the lobby you end up at Central Park with all major subway lines accessible

The GOOD: the location was perfect for Central Park and our city view room was very comfortable and had excellent amenities - spacious, a sumptuous bed, lovely toiletries and plenty of soft towels.
The BAD: I found the staff rather aloof and only a few made the effort to smile. Check-in was brisk and not particularly welcoming. I was unhappy about (and also unaware of) the 30%++ tariff that was added to the bill for extras that I didn't want, such as international calls, free Internet and drinks and snacks in the evening (and with Prosseco - not champagne as advertised). Also, the hotel is one of many that purport to be green and ask you to save on laundry costs, but without any incentive (such as a discount) if you do reduce the laundry bill.
The UGLY: Although our room was excellent in every other way, our 'city view' was a dark, dismal and ugly alley where the sun never shone. But luckily it did everywhere else during our stay.

Room Tip: Either choose a room with a park view (at a higher rate) or if a city view, make sure it's on a...

The Park Lane Hotel was central for us and all we wanted to do and see. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The Happy Hour from 5 to 7:00 p.m. was excellent and provided us with a nice place to relax from the day and prepare for the evening. We were fortunate enough to have an amazing view of Central Park as well as the Upper East and West sides. Every day as we came home from our day in the city we truly felt at home and comfortable in our very spacious and quiet room.

Room Tip: Best View in NY of Central Park

We keep coming back to the Park Lane Hotel almost every year since 2007. We traveled with our two kids (1 1/2 and 4) and they were very happy with the size of the Park View Junior Suite (in New York terms, it is huge). The view over Central Park is stunning. Excellent coffee is available just around the corner of the back entrance in FIKA. The hotel is clean, maybe the bathrooms are not 5 star, but all the rest is. We will be back!
