The hotel is in a safe place, especially for guests traveling to New York for the first time. The lobby usually has several staff members at all times. The hotel was average for other New York hotels in terms of room size, etc. The room was plenty big for two and nicely laid out.

The only amenity this room didn't have that we were expecting was a coffee maker which was a let down. Overall this hotel is a good choice for first time visitors as it felt safe with Central Park directly across the street.

Lobby and reception staff were pleasant, and they let us check in several hours early with no comment. The lobby, elevators, and rooms are all consistent decor style and quality. I got a basic room which is quite large by NY standards, and pretty nice.

I often try to find deals on hotels when in NY with results that are sometimes "mixed", getting places that are a bit sketchy, dim, worn, etc. No regrets with this place at all. The shower could use an update and was not hotel-pristine, but wasn't scary or anything either. Overall a very good option if you aren't interested in spending 400+ per night.

My boyfriend & I recently traveled to New York City for the weekend & decided to stay at the Park Lane Hotel booking a Junior Suite with a view of Central Park.
Our flight was delayed a few hours so we didn't check in until about 11pm & we were wrecked, just wanted to eat something & go to sleep.
Our beautiful room had an amazing view, but as we try to sleep, the smell of cigarettes seemed as though it was seeping through the walls & floors getting stronger & stronger! Plus we could hear the conversations of the people next door until about 3am. I must've been so tired that I fell asleep, but I actually woke up choking!
So I instantly ran down to reception & asked if we were in a smoking room!! The lady said YES! I told her that we are non-smokers & wasn't aware that we had been put into a smoking room at first, however I feel this could have been solved if it is was a requirement that the receptionist double checks with the patrons that they require a smoking room. Nothing was mentioned about type of room at check in point.
The lady was very sympathetic & straight away offered us a new room which was available instantly. The hotel also offered to pack our stuff & move it for us.
The new room was absolutely wonderful with an even better view than the previous.
The staff were excellent.
You cant beat the location.
The breakfast was way too expensive so we ate at a lovely bakery & cafe down the road.

I recently stay with my partner here for 3 nights prior to New Years Eve. We had a room overlooking Central Park. Check in was easy although they didn't inquire if we had a vehicle which meant we had to go back to the counter at check out to get a stamp on our valet parking ticket. The hotel seems very dated and there seems to be an attitude like this is a 5 star hotel. At check in, we inquired about refrigerators in the room, and was told, quote, " all our rooms have fridges". We looked and surprise, surprise, nada. No fridge. The staff person who eventually brought one up a few hours later, told us this was not the case as they don't have enough for every room. I was a bit pissed off that they guy lied to us. The hotel's bar, Harry's has a terrible atmosphere, and as one person said, tries to hard to be something it is not. Overall, outside of the view of the park, which any of the hotels along this strip could offer, I would not want to return. Once you see the park once, who cares about the view. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: As for a room looking over park. Higher floors if possible. This hotel is a residential building as...

Dear Capistrano99,

Thank you so much for the feedback. We would like to apologize for the issues you had during your stay. It is through guests taking time to share their experience with us that we can improve. We have shared the concerns listed with the Front Office Team. Our agents are sincere and would never want to mislead our guests, but seemingly provided incorrect information. Our rooms have minibars and we provide refrigerators on a request basis. Many of our guests enjoy Harry’s Bar traditional atmosphere and old work classic cocktails along with the magnificent views of Central Park. We are sorry it was not to your liking. If you ever decide to give us a second visit we will do our best to change your heart.

the room was clean and the position is right in the center of Manhattan but everything is really expensive, the rooms are old and the lady at the reception when I was just arrived from the airport wasn't that kind. I wouldn't recommend it, for the same price you can stay in better hotels in New York.

I stayed at the Park Lane Hotel for 20 days over Christmas and New Year 2013/2014....partly for business and part pleasure. I have to say that this hotel is in one of the best locations in NY, just across from Central Park and off 5th Avenue. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly and the service is always fantastic. A great mini bar, and the prices are acceptable for NY. The rooms are furnished with style and the bathroom is large with all the amenities. The hotel has a great bar, Harry's Bar, almost a NY institution.

The hotel also has a gift store and a wonderful lounge and foyer. They even provide you with an umbrella and warm, fluffy robes, just perfect for those nights when all you want it to stay in or those mornings that require a good sleep in! The rooms are clean and housekeeping are amazing and offer a great turn down service, complete with chocolates! It is these little touches that make ones stay just that little more special.

I would recommend staying here when in NY, the hotel has more to offer than other NY hotels, more spacious and more welcoming than other hotels I have stayed in NY and other big cities around the world. This hotel is part of the Helmsley group and it certainly lives up to the reputation. It felt like a home away from home.

Stay here when you are in NY.

Room Tip: Stay on the higher levels, they are quieter and also offer great views of the park.
