“Great location, friendly staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

We recently visited New York City and stayed at The Belvedere Hotel for 7 nights. It's an older hotel and shows its age a little bit, but overall we were very happy with the hotel for the price we paid.

We stayed in an executive King room. The room was clean and spacious, and we had a little kitchenette. We also had free Wifi in the room! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. When we got to our room we had a minor problem with the room safe not functioning. We called the front desk and a manager was at the door in five minutes and it was promptly fixed. The concierge was quite helpful. Make use of this resource for some good restaurant suggestions and reservations for places near the hotel.

The location of this hotel is FANTASTIC! It's two blocks from Times Square to the east, and half a block from Hell's Kitchen to the west which is full of amazing eateries and bakeries. It's also close to several subway and bus lines.

There was an old window a/c unit in the room which was kind of noisy. It actually helped block out the New York street noise of honking and sirens so it didn't bother me all that much. I did enjoy the fact that we could not hear other guests in neighbouring rooms like you do in newer, paper-thin-wall chain hotels. Some people have mentioned uncomfortable beds in previous reviews. We were in an upgraded executive room, and our bed was quite comfortable. The pillows weren't great, but not so bad that it kept me up at night.

One minor inconvenience: the elevators. They are small, slow, busy, and usually filled to capacity. At peak times we had to wait several minutes for the elevator and then cram in with a large group of people for the ride up. A couple of times we had to wait for the second or third trip of the elevator due to large groups of other guests waiting ahead of us. In the grand scheme of things, this is really minor and wouldn't stop me from staying here again.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends, and I would stay here again the next time I'm in New York City!

Room Tip: We asked for a room on a higher floor in the hopes that the street noise would be less noticeable. A...

Just come back from a 6 night stay at The Belvedere and had a fantastic stay.

Firstly the location is great, in between 8th and 9th Avenue on W48th, it is around the corner from 50th Street Subway Station which has the A,C,E trains running from it so perfect for transfers to and from JFK.

I felt that its position was close enough but at the same time far enough away from Times Square, ie able to be away from the chaotic circus on the night to chill in restaurant or bar.

We stayed in an Executive King Room (no 1506) on the 15th floor. The room was very spacious, very clean with ample amenities and our room had a great view of the city. We had free WIFI because if the type of room we opted for which was very useful. The room also had a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker with which supplies were refreshed each day by housekeeping.

The hotel has a fitness suite (didn't use this) and a business centre that offers all guests a complimentary online check in for their departing flights which was very helpful.

We were staying for our wedding anniversary, when we came back to our room we had a bottle delivered to the room by front desk management which was a very nice touch.

Housekeeping were very professional, fresh towels daily and the room immaculate on our return each evening after a day's sightseeing.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly stay here again when I get the chance to return to this amazing place!

I loved staying in this hotel. We stayed for 4 nights and it was perfect. We were only a few blocks from Times Square, so we had a nice view but were not kept up all night with the bright lights. The hotel was very nice and the staff was very helpful. The rooms seemed to be old fashioned with dark red carpet and gold blankets, which was very lovely and felt regal. Even the shampoo and conditioner were great! My friend left her phone on a bus and one of the front desk girls was so helpful in filling out a report to help her get the phone back.

Room Tip: We stayed in 802 which was right next to the elevators, but you could not hear them at all. Very nic...

Walking distance from time square. Very good service, nice and big room. Wifi in the room was not that good, best place was the men's restroom. We had a room in the back with a nice view on a small square. Bathroom was nice and well equiped. If we would visit NYC again, we definitely take the same hotel

Myself and a friend went to NYC. It was the first time for both of us. we stayed in a different hotel when we first got there and it was not what we were looking for. It was very small and no rom to do anything.
We then went to the Belvedere Hotel the very next day. What an amazing difference. The room was very big and roomy and very clean. The staff at the hotel was more than courteous. It is in Time square and walking distance to all the places that we wanted to be.
We will definitely go back there when we go back. Thank you for your wonderful courtesy to us.

Walking distance right at Times Square. Traditional hotel chains room design (2 queens or one king). Old-noisy style air conditioner. Terrible mattress...worst hotel sleeps of all time. I was given room 1026 (handicapped room) and slept one night. As there was no shower curtain, I got changed to room 1010. However, BOTH rooms have a terrible terrible mattress and bed. Mattress is over due with that hole drawn you at the rest position. And the bed frame, noisy and cranky at every turning. That poor mattress and bed frame was the down down ..down point or our family vacation. HOTEL NEEDS TO UPDATE IMMEDIATELY MATRESS AND BED FRAME.
Exactly what you do not want after long walking days around NY.
