“Nice (But Dark) Granite Bathrooms, Kitchenette, Comfy Beds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

This hotel was pretty clean, had nice but super dark bathrooms because the granite was so dark in color (at least it was updated, but looked kind of odd), a decent kitchenette area, and a basic NY hotel room layout. The staff was nice. The Midtown location is convenient to the Theater District.

This was our first stay. Staff were very attentive. Location was ideal if you want to be where the action is . It was very clean. There was a heat wave in NY that weekend over 100 F and window units A/C in room had difficulty keeping temp below 80 F and very noisy.Only cool place in the bldg was the lobby in the 70,s F.

.My first stay in July 2012 was in an Executive Room and it was excellent and I reviewed it very positively. This year, July 2013 as I was alone and only staying for 4 nights I booked a standard room, what they refer to as a king size double. I assumed the standard would be the same but on a smaller scale. The bed was very comfortable, the room itself satisfactory but worn in places with a noisy a/c, but the bathroom was definitely 2 star. It looked 1970s. I paid 1,153 dollars in total for 4 nights and did not even get shower gel or a robe.
As I plan to visit New York again I asked at reception if this was typical of their standard rooms. The receptionist said that all the rooms were different and that some had not been renovated. She suggested that I left feedback as the management took it seriously. I completed the feedback card but have heard nothing in the two weeks that followed.
I asked if I could ask for a particular floor in the hotel next time that would give me a better room one of her colleagues told me in a very arrogant manner that if I did not book an Executive Room I could have the same standard again. I was disappointed with that response.

Room Tip: Book an Executive Room or be prepared to take a chance on the standard rooms.

Dear SueKeo,
Thank you for commenting on your recent stay with us. I’m sorry you were not as impressed with our standard rooms. As you noted, our executive rooms are renovated rooms with upgraded amenities. These rooms are mixed throughout the building and are not organized by floor. I’m sorry you received anything but a cordial response when asking about the room types. I will certainly address this with the staff at the front desk to ensure they provide outstanding service to all of our guests.

This was my second time staying in this hotel. The location is great for exploring the city. Central Park, restaurant row, and subways are all close by, as well as several other must-sees. The hotel is lovely, and the rooms are comfortable, and the staff is welcoming.. The kitchenette is an added bonus if you want to grab something nearby and take it back to your room. This will be where I stay when I visit New York again.

Traveled with a group of friends recently so we had a series of rooms with 2 double beds to accommodate our group. We were all really pleased with the location on 48th street, not far from the theater district and Times Square, 5th Ave - the hub of the action - and it was pretty quiet given this location. Rooms were very spacious for NYC. Also a plus to have a small fridge, coffee maker, sink and microwave. Rooms aren't cheap but given the location and amenities a reasonable value. Had a couple of minor issues with the room but the staff responded very quickly - within 5 mins. Additionally, all the staff and the bellmen were very friendly.

Very close to a variety of restaurants - check out my other reviews for some of our favorites.

This hotel was perfectly located. Within easy walking distance to Time Square, Central Park (15 minutes), Theater district, Penn Station, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, and the list goes on. A fifteen minute walk to the port to catch a tour of the harbor. Easy access to the Subway system.

Had a microwave and refrigerator, so you can eat in if you want. Great grocery store a block and a half away. Believe its name was Emporium. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very spacious, comfortable and clean.

Would definitely stay here when we return to NYC.
