“Good location, nice room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

We stayed here in May 2013. We had 2double beds in a spacious room by New York standards. Room was clean and quiet. Bathroom was nice, recently renovated with good water pressure in the shower. Air conditioning was good, but we mostly just kept the windows open. The "kitchen" was really not. The coffee maker was really just the typical hotel room size with packets of creamer and sugar. Nice to have a fridge for leftovers.

The elevators were always busy, crowded and hot. Not sure why they wouldn't allow passengers on the 2 freight elevators at each end of the hallway. That would shorten the wait.

Didn't try the on site restaurant, but liked the neighboring Pizano family restaurant ( not sure that was the exact name) for an inexpensive breakfast. Owner and his sister were delightful and food was decent.

The location of the hotel was perfect. Right in the heart of Times Square area, but on a quieter side street. I'd recommend this hotel and would stay again.

My wife and I travelled to NYC April 25 to the 29th. First off what a great city. I booked a couple of hotels and by continuing to check got what was a pretty decent rate for the 4 nights. The Belvedere is about 2 blocks or so from Time Square and walking distance to everywhere. The location is so convenient that we didn't use a cab once. We stayed in the executive room which included upgraded bathroom and wifi. The room (although it overlooked the back or tops of other units) was perfect. Quiet enogh off the main street, king size bed, tv, etc. I would recommend the not have the TV volume blare so loud when it is turned on and provide a channel guide. We were on the 5th floor and had no complaints on the elevator service, most times, we walked down to the lobby and no issues riding up. Chris on concierge was very helpful in our quest for touring around. Suggested places for dinner and how to get around town. We wanted to walk the Brooklyn Bridge and his suggestion to subway into Brooklyn and walk back across was perfect. Can't comment on the restaurants as we were out all the time. Central Park is very close but remember, you can walk anywhere. One day we walked down to the HI Line bridge, back to 23rd and then down to Century 21...tiring but worth it. I would recommend the hotel.

My first visit to New York City since 1972! Nice room on 10th. floor in older style comfortable hotel near restaurant district, theatre district and garment district. Noisy at night but I guess the management can do nothing about that (except maybe install triple glazed windows).Breakfast (Continental) good value but I would not reccommend the cooked variety at $19.95.

This was our first stay at the Belvedere and our room was pretty spacious by NYC standards and I liked that the bathroom was a bit down the hall from the sleeping area which was nice. My only complaint would be that the elevators are really slow and too small for such a large hotel, we were on the 12th floor and did a lot of stairs!

For another visit to NY we again decided to book the Belvedere Hotel.
We of course hoped for a great experience again and this was exactly wat we got.
The reception did all they could to prepare our room asap since we arrived to early.
Kept in touch with us to let us know when it was ready for us!
Location of course was still the same ,but it feels great to rally feel at home and feel appreciated by all the staff.
Clean room and really helpfull staff not to be forgotten.
Thx again and see you soon!

I stayed at this hotel from the 23rd to the 26th of May, 2013. I paid $350 a night for the executive suite (memorial day weekend so a bit steep) and found it to be satisfactory (kinda cramped but its NYC). I was travelling with my wife and two kids and the hotel accomadated my requests of a high floor with a room away from the elevators and also provided a crib for my daughter. I did not have any trouble with the elevators.

The hotel was very old and had a very very delapidated feel to it. I could have got many other hotels that weekend at that price in the neighborhood but chose Belvedere since it has a small Kitchenette in the room and we needed that for the kids. But in hindsight, I think I could have stayed at one of the more fancy hotels in the area for the same price. O, and which hotel has no room service - The Belvedere.

The service and location are great but I will not stay here again since it feels like an old raggy hotel compared to some of the newer modern hotels in the area specially for the price.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on higher floors and upgrade to the executive suite. I did not see the standard room...
