“Good location, very clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

We stayed three nights over Canadian Remembrance Day weekend, just after Hurricane Sandy. We had an upgrade to a deluxe room, and even with four women in it, we had enough room. Comfortable beds, very clean. Kitchenette was somewhat of a waste of space, but we used the coffee maker and fridge, and used the space for our bags. Nice clean bathroom. The heating/air conditioning needs an upgrade, as it goes on and off with loud "clunks" each time. We solved that problem by leaving the fan on to create "white noise" in the background. The windows also need to be soundproofed; we were on the 9th floor and could still hear voices outside - including some idiot who sat out front blasting music in the middle of the night on the Friday night. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful with taxis and other questions. Long waits for the elevators, so we often just walked down (nine flights - but hey it's NYC, we walked everywhere!). Convenient, centrally located - I'd stay here again.

“Lovely Hotel centrally located and not so expensive!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

The Belvedere on w48th st was a pleasant surprise as I don't usually book hotels in nyc.My niece was visiting from Alaska and wanted to spend a few days in NYC so on trip advisor I was able to find the Belvedere conviently located ,nice rooms and reasonably priced. The hotel was very clean ,great service at front desk and bell persons along with houskeeping service. We will definately go back, near times square ,theatre district and about 9 blocks to central park ..you might be able to walk it but we took a cab.also we went to a concert at Madison Square Garden and also took a cab ,but you might be able to walk it ..I couldn't due to my bad back.I really think you would be very happy at the Belvedere ,enjoy your stay!!

“Thank you The Belvedere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Thank you Belvedere.

My family and I visit NYC very often, but at this time I decided to stay in The Belvedere Hotel mainly because of the kitchenette. In the beginning, I booked an Executive room for 4, after reading many reviews from Trip Advisor, which indicated that the Executive room was much better. Before going to travel, I found a super last minute offer for a Deluxe room. Even though being aware how superior the Executive room was, we decided to save a lot and grab this offer.
We arrived early and... GREAT! We got our room immediately. The location was excellent at 319 W 48th St, surrounded by many interesting restaurants, delis, and a very good supermarket, The Food Emporium.
Our Deluxe room was dated, it's undeniable, but was a good size for NYC standards, the cleanness wasn't exactly excellent, but it was ok. The kitchenette was very tiny, had no utensils, but a sink, a good size empty fridge and a microwave, which were very, very useful for our supplies.
Unfortunately, we arrived October 28, the day of the Superstorm Sandy and because of this NYC would stop at 7:00 pm and everything would close for safety. We were advised to go immediately to the supermarket to buy water and supplies, because nobody knew what would happen. When we arrived in the supermarket, we realized how serious was the situation. Long lines, many shelves empty, people grabbing as much as possible to stock up. That was very worrisome to us. We had no idea that a hurricane could disrupt our trip. The next day, NYC stopped. The Belvedere hotel was our safe place to stay. There was enough room for our needs and the facilities were perfectly adequate. By the way, the fitness center was very nice too.The staff, even though stuck in the hotel as well, was there with professionalism all the time to help us. The concierge was very helpful, providing us good advice. They were brilliant.
We had to delay our departure once, but it wasn't enough. When we tried to do it again, there was a waiting list with 15 people that wanted to do the same. The hotel was very busy. People couldn't check out because all of the airports remained closed. New Yorkers due to the power outage, lack of hot water and heat went to the hotels. At this time, the hotels were sold out because of the people running in the NYC Marathon which hadn't been canceled at this time. They had already made reservations and they were eager to get to their hotel. How frustrating it was. Booking, Expedia, Hotels, Otel, Hotwire, Agoda and so on that used to offer hundreds hotels, all were sold out. It was scary to us, what to do? Sleepless night, jitters... We felt very vulnerable.
Luckily, the Belvedere's staff did a great job and we could stay.
Thank you Belvedere for all the effort to bring back our well-being. Thank you for all your professionalism and for having such a competent staff in the hotel during this hard time.
We are looking forward to staying in the Belvedere again on our next vocation.

Room Tip: Executive rooms are already renewed.

“Great location, comfortable hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

We really liked this hotel. The front of it is inviting, the lobby is warm and welcoming, the neighborhood is quiet and comfortable, and it's only two blocks from Times Square! Our room was quiet and very clean, and the beds were comfortable The refrigerator and microwave in the little kitchenette made it easy to store juice, cereal and milk. We stayed three nights, November 9-12, 2012. We felt this hotel made us feel "at home" and will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Our room had a large open view, and was on the side away from the street, so there was no noise at a...

“Manhattan's Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

I cannot say enough good things about The Belvedere. The service at the front desk was top notch, Ilianna was the best and was very accommodating when I asked for a room on a higher floor with a view. The beautifully decorated Executive King room I was given on the 15th floor had a nice view with windows that open. The room was spacious and everything was brand new (not refurbished) as they recently remodeled. The room was incredibly clean and quiet, even though it was directly across from the elevators. I never once heard any noise from the hallway as the actual bedroom is set down a long hallway away from the door. I did hear a little noise from the room next to mine, but that was only because the people in there were shouting. Luckily, it only lasted a few minutes, otherwise it was quiet. The bed was a little soft for my liking but provided a good night’s rest. The room was equipped with a little kitchenette/bar area with coffee maker (including coffee, cups, sweetners, etc.), sink, microwave, and fridge. Very nice, well lit closet with plenty of storage space, a safe large enough for a laptop, iron, and ironing board. There was a working desk with a great chair and lighting, wired and wireless internet, good sized LCD television, a small table with 2 chairs, and another larger chair on the other side of the room. The bathroom was small but one of the cleanest I’ve seen at a hotel, and the water pressure and temperature were perfect. The hotel does not offer in-house room service, however, they have partnered with a few restaurants in the area that will deliver right to your room door for a very small fee (under $3). Patzeria is one of them and the food was very good and pretty cheap. There is also a great market around the corner, The Food Emporium, where you can pick up just about anything you need. I absolutely have to have cream in my morning coffee, so I picked up a small carton for the fridge along with some fruit and yogurt for breakfast. They have lots of prepared foods and baked goods as well, if you’re not looking to order from delivery menus. I have read several reviews here where people have complained about slow elevator service, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that the elevators were anything but slow, tiny and oddly shaped, but not slow. Perhaps they have serviced the elevators since those reviews were written, but I never waited more than a minute for an elevator...and I was in and out of the hotel many times during my stay. I would absolutely stay here again!
