“Good location for Theater....otherwise nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2011

Rooms darkly decorated and dirty around the edges. Was about 70 degrees when we were there but the elevators and hallways were saunas.

Room size nice. Staff a bit on the rude side, not all, only some.

Everything in the hotel was sparkling clean and all of the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit on the small side but was absolutely fine for the two of us. The very best thing was the location. We were within easy walking distance of Times Square, the theatres and the subway. We couldn't have been more pleased. Did I mention that the room was reasonably priced? We are already planning to return!

It was our first time staying in downtown Manhattan, and what a great location this hotel is in. Just minutes from Times Square and an easy walk to Central Park. There are tons of places to walk to nearby. The room is small, but comfortable. We were on the 17th floor and had a great view of the skyline. The bathroom was tiny, but the shower had great water pressure, and the toiletries provided had an terrific orange scent. The AC was a window unit, but did the trick. The hotel itself was very clean, and we would stay there again for sure.

We arrived around noon on Jun 9. Check-in was easy and, since our room wasn't ready yet, we left our luggage and headed to Macy's. Upon our return around 4, we were assigned our room on the 9th floor. Room was clean, AC was cold, which was good since it was 98 outside! Bathroom, while small, suited us fine. We had trouble with one plug, but we made it work. Having a safe in the room was wonderful too. Room was clean and everyone we encountered was very nice. The only negative was a funny smell in the hallway. But, we were in the hallway such a short amount of time, that was a small thing. Elevators can get slow, but again, we could live with it. For the price we paid and the great location, right in the middle of the theater district and close to Time Square and subways, the Belvedere has become our "go to" hotel while in the city.

As I read through these posts, I can see how opinions bounce around a little. I imagine there's a significant variance between deluxe and executive rooms at this hotel. Considering that the rooms are expectedlu small - add to that "plain" and it might be disappointing for the money. However, our executive class room, still small, is beautiful and has remarkable views. It is extremely quiet even though our room wraps around the elevator (I expected the worst with that, but I can't hear a thing.)

The staff is very friendly, eager to help. If the concierge is unavailable, the front desk staff is knowlegeable about restaurants and haven't failed us yet.

The location of this place is fantastic, literally two blocks from Times Square's TKTS booth. We are within a few blocks of most theaters and half a block from restaurant row on 9th avenue. Subway access is easy as well. One small warning when reading NYC reviews; Manhattan blocks are twice as wide as they are long - if precise walking distance is important to you, look at a map to get your bearings.

This hotel, with its wonderful staff and location, is an easy recommendation - especially for the money. Barring any conflicts forthcoming, I am excited about the rest of our stay. For now, though, time to nestle down in this big, comfortable bed a while longer. Thanks Belvedere!

My husband and I recently spent four days in New York City. We arrived by train into Penn Station. We decided to walk from 38th St. to 48th where the Belvedere Hotel was located. it was a short interesting walk. The hotel was a lovely surprise. We were greeted warmly by the staff. Our room was not huge but perfect for us. It had everything we could ask for. It was very hot outside 95 at the time of our arrival and got hotter as the days went by. Our room was cool, comfortable and quiet. We were central to everything. Two blocks from Time Square, two blocks to any dining venue you could want or imagine, two blocks from the subway, one block from all the tour buses and one block from the theatres. Excellent location for everything.

Just stayed at the Belvedere this past weekend. It was a great hotel and I enjoyed my overall stay. I stayed in a Double room with my husband and Mom. We loved walking around the Theater District and Times Square. There were subway stops within a few blocks of the hotel. There were lots of little bars and restaurants in the area to explore. Everyone at the Belvedere was kind and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for young people who want a place to stay that is within walking distance to the action. This is not a luxury hotel, but our stay was comfortable.
