“Fantastic!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Amazing staff, extremely nice rooms - modern with charm. The king suite was very spacious, specially for NYC (I read the queen rooms are small). Lobby a bit small, but wasn't looking to spend much time there anyways.. Although would've liked to try the bar there.
I hope to be back soon as I really enjoyed my stay here!

The Algonquin is a newly renovated hotel within two blocks of Times Square. The boutique hotel exceeded our expectations with its friendly staff and great location. The front desk upgraded us to the Atlantic Monthly corner suite with breakfast in the lounge. It's an older hotel recently renovated but keeping the historical uniqueness in place. Never had a problem with noise during our stay. We stayed three nights and attended four plays.

The only negative is the expensive drinks at the Blue Bar, martini's start at $20. Reasonable drinks are one block away at One Two Three, French restaurant and bar.

This hotel will be at the top of my list for future trips to New York.

Room Tip: If affordable and within budget book a suite.

We stayed here for a long weekend and were impressed from start to finish. The lobby is newly renovated and very trendy and comfortable. Our room was a renovated 1 bedroom suite that was surprisingly large for NYC. it hade beautiful decor, was very clean, and the air conditioning worked great (which was important since it was over 95 each day). All the staff we interacted with we're polite and friendly.

The location is perfect. Especially if you are coming for the first time. It's a few blocks to the heart of Times Square, subway, and many great restaurants.

We stayed here in September 2011. Late review but better late than never. It is in a brilliant location right at times square. The staff were very helpful and helped us book the tour bus as this is the best way to get around the city! The room was very small but that didnt bother us as we didnt spend much time in the room. The gym is also very small but plenty of room to get ya work out done as it was never busy. We ate out evey morning and evening so i cannot rate the food but loved our stay here. Will defo return :)

Being centrally located, the Algonquin Hotel is a good choice if you don't want to spend hours in the subway when visiting NY. Rooms are big enough, taking into account the New York standard, were many hotel rooms are the size of a matchbox. Staff is very friendly and helpful. NY is a noisy city, so make sure you have some earplugs with you in order to be able to get a good nights sleep.

To start with, the hotel is in a convenient location. It has recently been updated, and my daughter said it is very "Gatsby". One of the things I most appreciated, and certainly didn't expect (having stayed in New York hotels before), was how quiet the rooms were. At night, the street sounds were almost inaudible. Being a light sleeper, this was very much appreciated. We had one of the suites, and it was pretty spacious for our family of four.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The fitness center is good, not great. The breakfast is fabulous.

My husband and I stayed at the Algonquin last week for (1) night to see a show and have dinner. What a great experience, check-in was easy and fast. I read the reviews regarding noise so I was a bit worried and asked for a room away from the elevators. We were given a great corner room facing the back of the hotel...it was so quiet!!
The bellhop was so kind (can't remember his name) but he told us the history of the hotel including the cat picture on our door...
We stopped in after the show for a drink in the blue bar and John the bartender was really nice...he had another bartender again can't remember his name talk about the history again and it was fascinating.
The only downside are the price of drinks, I am a new Yorker and even for me they were steep!!
