“Great but they didn't open the terrace for us.”

Fantastic hotel but we're really dissapointed they wouldn't open the roof terrace for us on the last night of the season. Apparently the forecast was rain but even though it was a dry evening we couldn't just pop out to see the view and take sone pictures. The terrace was, after all, one of the reasons we chose the hotel.

Also it's a bit greedy to charge $14 for 24hrs of WIFI.

Otherwise, the place is lovely and the staff are friendly. Shame it couldn't have been perfect.

From the time we stepped out of the cab to the time we stepped into the cab to leave this hotel was fantastic. Staff were just so helpful, nothing was a problem and this was from the front desk, through to cleaning staff. We loved the location, the hotel room, the bar and the staff. I would most definitely stay here again and have recommended this hotel to so many of our friends.

Location is very nice for putting a little distance between the frenzy of mid-day in Mid-Town and evening recuperation. The staff are attentive but not intrusive, and very helpful. The restaurant is very pleasant with a Continental breakfast buffet that suggests deep European roots.

I accidentally found this place searching on the web for a special hotel in NYC that was not a 5-star chain. The greatest hotel find ever. I have now stayed at this hotel 4 times. Each stay has been great. The staff is very respectful, kind, and real for an upper east side hotel. A unique find to have a place to stay without an attitude, but the desire to truly be helpful to the guests. The suites are divine in all ways. The regular salon rooms can be a bit small in the wrong location. The concierge is excellent and so helpful. The hotel is only a 1/2 block from the best part of Central Park. Great food, great bar, great decor. My only wish is that the bell person would not just drop my luggage on the floor. I like the touch of luggage being put on a luggage rack. A simple gesture. Don't let the comment deter you. Thank you to the Surrey staff.

Decided to stay here based on tripadvisor reviews and was very happy with the design, Daniel Boulud restaurant, and room service. Staff were uniformly warm and friendly. One of the best city hotels I've stayed in! Restaurant is excellent and down to earth and doesn't seem to be very touristy.

Checking in at 11:00 pm the kind front desk staff upgraded us to a suite for my birthday celebration of two nights.The room was absolutely killer; bright, high ceilings, contemporary but comfortable...we stayed an extra night as the bed was incredible. I slept so soundly, it was worth every single penny. The Surrey beat the pants off any other place I've stayed in the city. It is warm with a cool edge, upscale but not snooty - this spot is a gem and strikes a delicate balance of New York elegance and hip street appeal. Stay there and make sure you hit the rooftop lounge before it gets too cold. The servers up there are attentive and fun, the drinks refreshing and view unbeatable. Also, lunch at Cafe Boulud on the patio is a must for people watching and palate pleasing. I will return with gusto!

This is a very nice hotel with nice sized suites. The staff are friendly and managed an issue with check-in very well by offering free drinks vouchers for the roof top bar - which has a very nice view of the Manhattan skyline. When we stayed they did experience problems with the lifts (elveators) however, this was only a minor inconvenience. I would recommend this hotel for a specuial occasion or simply when you want to push the boat out and go a little bit fancy!!
