“Great location shame there was no mirror at the desk!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

I stayed here for 3 nights in a twin room with my sister. This hotel is in a great location not far from Times Square and just three blocks from Macy's.
we stayed on the 17th floor where it was still quite noisy but nothing that a pair of decent ear plugs didn't block out for me. The air conditioning is quite noisy too, again, my ear plugs blocked this noise out too.
People have complained about the size of the bathroom, I don't really know what people are expecting. Yes, our bathroom was compact but it had a toilet and a sink and a large shower, what more do you really want?!
Our room was not huge, but big enough for our two double beds with a walk-in wardrobe. The only problem we had was that the only mirror close enough to an electrical outlet was in the bathroom which was no good when two girls are sharing. Another mirror at the desk would have been fantastic. Instead I used the camera on my ipad.
Couldn't fault the staff at the affinia, they were all very polite and helpful. I would recommend this hotel.

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the past several years. We know this hotel very well. Many rooms have a miniature shower stall suitable for short young children. You can barely turn around in them and god forbid you drop the soap! Specifically we ask for a bathroom with a tub shower. we were assured our room had the tub and not the shower. Got to the room and it had the miniature shower....3rd time this has happened....3 strikes and your out! Of course you can complain and ask for a different room which I have done and room hopped a few times but who wants to spend that kind of time in nyc!

Dear Mrmrs Frank P,
I'm sorry to hear you experienced some challenges in getting a room with a tub. We have many different room types and layouts available for our guests and I'm glad to know that our front desk was able to assist you in moving rooms. We're always happy to take guest request in advance of arrival to make check-in smoother, feel free to call the Front Desk prior to arrival to make your request for a tub in advance. Thank you for taking the time to fill out a review. I hope that you decide to stay with us again.
All the best,
Joseph Kelly, General Manager

This was a great place to stay for my family holiday in NYC. The hotel was very can, room was incredibly comfortable and staff were nothing short of superb. The location is a few blocks south of Times Square, so you it's a really good central location. My only issue was to do with noise, but that has more to do with NYC than the hotel, and Affinia do supply ear plugs if you happen to be a light sleeper. Highly recommended.

Had a 5 day visit to New York for our 35th wedding anniversary, and stayed at the Affinia. Arrived via the shuttle bus from Newark Airport, and were checked in within 10 minutes. Had asked for a high floor, but ended up on the 7th floor, which, as it turned out wasn't too bad. Only heard one other guest in all 5 days, and that was quite late, but pretty quiet after that. The air conditioning unit can be a little noisy, but, with the noise of the city outside, it's blends in with the rest. No wonder they supply ear plugs ! .... although we didn't need them, as shattered from each days activity. This is a great location, but a tip.... get a 4 day hopper bus pass, and instead of going straight up the road to Time Square, walk one street over, and then walk up. A lot less people, and just as many shops, and if possible, get out as early as possible. $20 for the buffet breakfast, but you can eat as much as you like, or there are countless delli's and cafes. There are some brilliant salad deli's, and Starbucks for the free wifi, and can be expensive in the hotel. Can also recommend the helicopter flight over Manhattan...... absolutely amazing ! Gobsmacked .... worth every penny. One last thing, the staff were brilliant. Special mention for Maureen on the Concierge desk who sorted out our trips.... what a star !

Room Tip: Ask for as high as possible, at the back, and prefferably a corner, but it will probably have have s...

I visited this hotel in October 2012. Room was small and seemed a bit grubby, we were on 8th floor, there was a smell of stale food pervading the corridors, all of the lifts didn't seem to work so there could be quite a wait. There was work going on in the lobby at the time we were there and using the stairs meant going out onto the street when you got to the bottom, that's fine but rather unusual. I appreciate that was probably temporary. the bathroom was tiny with nowhere to put toiletries, the window was draughty through the air con unit .The maintenance man came up to the room, he was the only polite friendly member of hotel staff I spoke to. Staff on reception and the Consierge (on the day we left) were disinterested at best. Location was fine but there are many hotels in that area. This was my first time in New York and although it is an amazing city the hotel was disappointing. Bar in the lobby was fine and the restaurant was good otherwise I would have given this hotel a poor review ( the restaurant manager was very efficient and the bar staff were very pleasant) . I couldn't recommend this hotel despite all the other good reviews.

Room Tip: I didn't have a great room so couldn't really comment

Travelled to New York with hubby for a 7 night holiday. Didn't consider staying anywhere else as I have always had a great experience here. As ever, we had a fantastic stay! Can't wait to return in December.
Many thanks once again to Daniela, whom I got to meet in person at last (I'm usually too busy seeing the sights to catch her!) She is an asset to the hotel.

Great Location especially if you are arriving by train from Long Island. Across from MSG/Penn Station.10 minute walk to Times Square, Empire State Building. Dunkin Donuts downstairs made breakfast easy. I liked going to nearby deli. Also a drug store nearby.Shout out to our maid Ana C. took great care of our room and kids.
