“Awesome hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

My stay at the Soho Grand was awesome! Omar and the ladies at registration were so friendly and helpful. The location of this hotel is also an added bonus. My room was spacious and very clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Location was great. Check in and out were both painfully slow. Concierge wasn't overly helpful. Room was tiny, even by NYC standards. I will be staying in SoHo again in 2 weeks - I will not be staying here.

Dear Anginal,
I am sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations during you recent stay. I am not sure why our check in or check out would be slow but may need more information to look into what may have been the issue. I would like to discuss this with you further and see if I may not find a way to rebuild your faith on our brand. Please email me directly kfahey@sohogrand.com
Best regards,
Kelley

Nice hotel in terms of location. Pretty trendy, too (if you like that kind of stuff). Staff in lobby are impatient and unfriendly. Would give lots of examples bitcim feeling pretty lazy right now. Suggestion would be to Priceline hotels in soho with higher ratings. You'll pay much less as well.

The hotel has a very good location in Manhattan, it's really convenient to stay in New York. The hotel is so nice with an awesome view on the Manhattan River. I recommend this place to spend nice time in New York. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and very helpful.

Have stayed a few times at this hotel for business use and at times bring my wife along. Interesting location with shopping and restaurants nearby. Staff friendly and professional. Had a problem in my room with air conditioner making a lot of noise but little effect, and leaving a big wet spot on the carpet. Maintenance was on it quickly and dealt with it as best they could with fans to dry out the carpet. An inconvenience only.
Good that they have meeting rooms now so it has full business function.
Only problem at times is that the lighting is very dark in most areas of the hotel. No problem for the young and trendy, but middle-agers with glasses need some help sometimes!

Dear junkbuzz,
Thank you for pointing out some of the nearby attractions. The neighborhood is buzzing with restaurants, shopping and art galleries. We always enjoy hearing that our guests make the most of Soho and experience the surroundings. We apologize for the air conditioning although I am glad to hear that we responded and resolved things quickly.
Our lighting sets the tone throughout the public spaces and creates a mood. However it should always be at a level that is comforting and inviting.
Best regards,
Kelley

We stayed for a long weekend from October 10, a thursday through the next Monday. The best thing about this hotel is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. We were very impressed by that as compared to other places we have stayed in NYC. We had a special weekend deal that included breakfast and shopping discounts in nearby boutiques, so it worked out to be a pretty sweet deal. The main drawback to this hotel is that the rooms are rather small. However they are very fresh, clean, and attractive. Good location, but it is on the edge of Soho, very close to Tribeca. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room without construction outside the window.

We came in for a weekend stay for a birthday celebration. Hotel is very cool but really dark. We arrived early and our room was not ready which was expected but the front desk offered to call when it was but this never happened. Friday night after dinner we decided to have a drink in the Club Room where you can have dinner or just drinks. The hostess told us we could just go in and sit down. When we got to the room where the music was playing the waitress told a different story. After standing for several minutes and no hostess in sight we just sat ourselves. We were enjoying the music for 15 minutes and were never asked if we wanted a drink, and then a young gentleman approached us very rudely and told us that the L shaped sofa where we were sitting was reserved but never offered to sit us elsewhere. Finally someone noticed we were trying to find a table and helped seat us and placed our drink order. The L shaped sofa is obviously for VIPs and staff made it clear we were NOT VIPs - how silly.

Room Tip: City view from higher floor is best-there is a lot of noise at street level.
