“Nice bar/downstairs areas...rooms poor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

Really disappointed in my 1 night here. Although the bar and dining areas were really good with a great buzzy atmosphere, the rooms were very small and looked like they needed a refurb! At $480 a night plus tax, won't be rushing back!
Plus side is great location for shops/restaurants etc

Room Tip: Choose the Smyth Tribeca...much bigger rooms and cheaper!

Rooms are not the biggest but who sleeps in NYC? The team is friendly and attentive. They even offer free gift wrapping during Christmas season. Upstairs lounge is intimate for people and dogs but they don't bite ( at least the dogs don't).

What a great hotel for location, decor, lifestyle, customer care and many more. Spent a long week end for the traditional Christmas shopping and discovered this gem in the heart of Soho where you can breathe the real New Yorker life style: in the heart of Soho, a stroll from Nolita and not far from Greenwich and West Village give many chances to explore those charming neighbourhoods: Canal St metro is also at doorstep giving easy access to mid town and main tourist attractions.
I have been in several hotels in NYC, both downtown and mid town and must say that the Soho Gran has been by far the best: from the impeccable customer service to the quality of the interior. At arrival the room was ready before the standard check in time with the entire requests in terms of room position and floor satisfied. The concierge and the reception staff were at all time available, full of suggestion and prompt in any request: this all came with a friendly and professional attitude.
The room was clean and very comfortable within the NYC standards in terms of size: the bed was to die for, the bathroom also good.
Great experience overall def recommended for couples and also business travellers. In the evening the lounge bar becomes a hotspot with nice atmosphere.

Room Tip: Chooese a room on the high floor and not too close to the lifts for more silence. Cannot comment on...

Wouldn't dream of staying here normally as I'm a Four Seasons devotee, however I was in NYC on business for one night only so tried it on recommendation as I didn't want to haemorrhage money for somewhere just to sleep in.
A short queue to check in but once there a very good experience, nice room, great shower / bath, very helpful staff and a nice breakfast.
Its not as 'flash' as many NY hotels but its not as expensive either. All in all under the same circumstances, I will definitely be back.

Smallish room on 14th Floor with great view over new World Trade Building. Decor trendy but a bit dark for my taste Bed extremely comfortable. Staff were very friendly conciege was excellent. The breakfast area was fun and quirky but a touch awkward for actually eating with low tables and soft chairs. Great location in low rise boutique-filled area very close to subway station for the A train uptown or to JFK Airport. Free wifi a real bonus for planning tourist activities.

Room Tip: The hotel do not offer twin rooms so you have to be happy to share a double - luckily my daughter an...

this was my 3rd stay at the soho grand and I love it ! the location, staff and rooms are great, there's a subway station just round the corner,a 24 hr deli across the road and a warm welcome every time you arrive back,we made a huge mistake of staying at another hotel in a different part of town on our last night before travelling home and had to pop down to west broadway just to have a 'cleansing' feeling before we left the city... lesson learnt, when we return to nyc we'll be back to the soho grand !

Room Tip: the city view is spectacular

It's a destination hotel for tourists and locals who flock to the bar and lounge area. Free wifi and very friendly staff that brought us slippers, extra sheets and even late checkout until 2pm. If you pay for the city view you get the Empire State Building, without you get the new Liberty Tower.
