“Best Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013 via mobile

Location and price wise this hotel is the best. Times square, broadway show, 5th avenue all within 2-5 minutes walking distance. The rooms were small but very comfortable. The moment we entered for check in we found more than 200 people in the lobby, we literally had to ask people to move so we can walk through but nevertheless this place is worth it inspite of being a very noisy place. It was mentioned in our booking we would get 2 bottles of water free in our room. But the reception staff said only 1 bottle daily. we would love to stay there again.

Taking five kids to Manhattan for Spring Break is daunting. However, Ahmed, Front Desk Agent for the Sheraton New York Times Square (Gold Desk) was fantastic. Ahmed worked hard to get us rooms close together and then showed us the value of paying a little extra for the Club Floor. It was well worth it. Our week long stay was terrific. The kids had a great time and we had a "retreat" on the club floor when our sightseeing was done. At the end of our stay, I was fortunate to get Ahmed again as we checked out. He took care of some problem with the bill and then made sure the family got packed up and on our way. Thanks for a great stay.

Room Tip: If you are SPG Gold or Platinum, definitely stay on the Club floor. The breakfast is fantastic and t...

We stayed for 4 nights in a standard room at the beginning of April. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the room was which had clearly been recently refurbished. We ate breakfast in the hotel several times. The food and service was excellent but as with all hotels is expensive. There are many places to eat outside of the hotel cheaply. We used room service which was quick and good quality.
The foyer is heaving with people in the morning and evening. It was half term so there were many groups of school children. Also there is an attached convention centre. However our check in and check out was very quick.
There were very few negatives to report. One day the room was not cleaned even though we were out early in the morning and did not return until late. Reception dealt with this issue for us. Also one item was on my room bill that I did not use and this was taken off.
You can walk to most places from the hotel down to Battery Park or up to Central Park.
If this is your first visit to New York a red bus tour is good value for money taking you around with interesting commentary and allowing you to get on and off. The bus stop is down the road from the hotel in Times Square.
I would definitely stay at the Sheraton hotel again. Don't be put off by the crowds in the foyer. The location is central, the room a nice standard and the restaurant a good place to start the day.

Room Tip: If you want to open a window without hearing street noise you will need to be as high up as possible...

I stayed here with a large group for a conference, and I really enjoyed the hotel. It's very modern, well-kept, and well-staffed. The conference I was there for involved thousands of people, probably about half of which were staying in the Sheraton. The staff did a great job of accommodating such a large group, from check-in and luggage storage to housekeeping to check-out. The hotel itself was beautiful, and the rooms were awesome with great views of New York City, but above all, I'd love to give top marks to the staff. When I return to the same conference next spring, I hope that I am once again staying in this hotel!

This is a newly remodeled hotel. joy at the front counter was very helpful friendly and takes the extra step to ensure guests are satisfied. This hotel is in walking distance of Broadway Shows Times Square and The David Letterman Show. The hotel is extremely busy. I recommend this hotel. Drop in and see Joy at the front counter she is awesome!!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms are very small

We have stayed several times at this hotel, but our recent experience was not as good as previous ones. it is still fantastically located at least, that hasn't changed!

What you need to know: If you book through a third-party instead of directly with the hotel (Which we did, this time) , you will get an inferior room, and no advance service. At the desk, once you get there, they will tell you that there is no problem and they will attempt to address your issues, but the reservation staff will say, "we cannot see the reservation because it is wirth a third-party." While this may be true, is just silly because third-parties like Expedia and others let you make special requests and then tell you to follow up with the hotel.

Check your room: we were booked in a room where things were broken, and it took forever to get us assigned to a new room. The staff are very busy, and it is not their fault, but no one should have been put in the room in the first place. We were then moved to a connecting room, and got to hear our neighbor singing and talking all night.

Room service: , very slow because of how busy the staff is. Again, this is not staff's fault.

No extra cots or roll ins: . The hotel used to offer a the possibility of a roll in bed , but this has since been abolished because of "renovations" again, this is just silly. It is also a real pain for families with a single older child because you then have to take the "full size" beds, which are basically the size of doubles and not very comfortable.

Room Tip: upper floors are better, do not take a room that connects to the neighbors room unless you are fami...

wonderful location, right next to times square and all the action! Smaller rooms though, but that's understandable given that it's nyc and every inch of real estate counts! Nice and friendly staff too. They did not give me an upgrade even though I am platinum with starwood, but well.. I was lucky to even get a reservation the day before a nice and sunny March weekend.
And yea, free wifi is always a bonus at Sheraton properties!
