Two experienced travelers stuck in NYC without a hotel during the blizzard of 2006, we booked the first "quality" room we could find. We trusted the Radisson name. Lobby, check-in was fine. Our first room was on a floor that was incompletely renovated: new carpet, peeling paint, new sink, worn out tub, etc. Ethernet cable too short. There was no comforter on the bed, so we asked several times for one to be brought up - housekeeping was out of the queen size, so they finally brought two twins.

After reading in bed for about 30 minutes, I noticed small, black bugs all over me! We were switched to another room, but it was impossible to find restful sleep after being crawled all over. This is a Radisson? I'll not trust Radisson again!

We stayed at the Lexington on our honeymoon in September 2005. The location was great, when we first walked in it looked very grand so we were very excited, after speaking to the most unhelpful Receptionist ever we checked out our room which was terrible, small wasn't even a word to describe it! 4 rooms later we finally got a room which was half decent and even that was on the smoking floor.
New York was fantastic but the hotel was a huge let down.

We ended up here for 3 nights at $105/night via Priceline. The location is great, we may have lucked out with a decent room on 15th floor, 1506. Small room but decent closet space and good hangers. We arrived before noon on Thursday and they let us check in early and go straight up to our room. A positive is that all the elevators seemed to be working and there was never a problem with overcrowding or delays during our stay.

The heating/cooling system in our room was not working correctly -- it was 77 degrees and would not come down, but fortunately the window opened and we just turned off the heat. The street noise was terrible that first night, but we survived and as the room had eventually cooled off, we were able to close the window. It's NYC. There's going to be street noise. We were lucky with nice weather for January -- up to 60 two days. As everything else seemed quite adequate, we didn't complain about the overheating. Having read so many poor reviews of this hotel, the chance of getting a room with more problems seemed to outweigh the simple solutions we had for dealing with this one.

The room was clean and it seemed like the sheets and towels were all new which made them almost luxurious. The double bed was comfortable. I particularly liked the insulated ice bucket. I drink lots of water while traveling and like ice water even in the middle of the night. Great water pressure in the shower. I guess this is a d*m*ing with faint praise type review, but since we were on our own $$ and needed three nights, it is fair to give it a "neutral/average" 3 stars, but don't expect anything "special."

We stayed here on business at the end of January. We were booked in for 4 nights but one night was more than enough. The bedrooms were dingy and dirty. The staff could not have been less helpful. I'm surprised that the Radisson would allow their reputation to be sullied by putting their name to this excuse for a hotel!

In Short..
1. The staff are unpleasant/bordering rude
2. The corridors are 1970's
3. The bedrooms (plural), because I briefly viewed 3 within a 20minute spell are disgusting, if the window frames aren't rotten or broken, the bathrooms.....uuuggh, I can't
4. The option of Smoking/Non-Smoking seems irrelevant
5. Radisson - should be ashamed to put their name to this DUMP
oh....and 6. The Bell Boys are a really treat, from the Marx Brothers Finishing School I believe!

I'm penning a letter to Radisson about this property as I use them frequently, mostly it has to be said in Europe where the standard is usually superb - this pit should be closed immediately and refurbished from top to bottom. I was forced to stay for one night as I had only arrived at the hotel at 1am, but I checked out at 7am and booked into the Hyatt at Grand Central Station the following morning for 3 pleasant nights stay, with professional staff and above all, CLEAN surroundings. I won't be back and I don't care how cheap it is, or how reasonable you think it might be - DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT STAYING HERE!
