“Overall good place to stay with everything Doubltrees have”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Great location near the East side with a Cafe Metro next door. Room was spacious for NYC and the windows open for fresh air. Lobby bar The Met was solid although they could use more than the one waiter. Did not use any of their restaurant facilities. The fitness center was excellent with free weights and machines. Somewhat short on cardio but it overall excellent mix.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on facing South on the inside. Almost zero noise.

I've stayed at this hotel at least a dozen times. The saving grace for it is excellent location and diligent staff. On this stay, I needed a very late check out, and the front office staff - particularly Doron - were very helpful in accommodating. The location is right in the heart of where many of my meetings occur, so it's walking distance for many of my needs.

Downside: The front desk set-up is not well organized or thought-out. It's basically a scrum, where you can stand for a long long time to check in, checkout, or ask a question. There's also no dedicated area for their HHonors members - or elites - to check in.

I very very rarely use room service at hotels. But, on this stay, I was hurriedly trying to finish a project while in the room, and really would have loved to order a salad, and was shocked that they have no room service. I saw there was no menu in the room, so flagged down a housekeeper who told me that 'they were all laid off." I verified with the hotel operator that there were no room service options. I'll repeat that for a full-service Manhattan hotel to have no room service is a shock, and it is hard to comprehend the reasoning.

Room was clean but small, especially the bathroom. Expensive for the facilities on offer, not even any tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
Staff were very helpful and the bar area was nice, very expensive drinks though.
Conveniently placed for walking but there is also a subway very close by.
Average hotel for the area.

Staff was helpful and gracious - easy access to subway if needed - doorman assisted with taxis - great service; housekeeping staff polite and considerate with sleeping in - they were quiet in the hallways - any special requests were honored. Staff at the bar said no problem for taking drinks to the room with a snack. Unfortunately did not try the restaurant - next time! Everyone was terrific - felt right at home.

My husband and I stayed here April 18 through April 21. Our room was on the 14th floor so we did not have to hear any traffic noise at all. The room was small but that's to expect in New York. The room was clean and comfy. The location was great there is a subway stop right on the corner by the hotel, we also did a bunch of walking and staying here made it convenient. We booked the hotel for about $176 a night which was a great deal. I would stay here again.

Visited the Doubletree Metropolitan this past weekend. This was the third Doubletree hotel I have stayed at in Manhattan and although my least favourable of the three, the location was my favorite.

Walkable to Times Square, Rockefeller, Central Park and (if you're determined like I am) Madison Sq. Garden, The Empire State Building and the Flatiron Building (about a 35 minute hike).

Great little Coffee Shop (DeMarcos) next door. Excellent lattes and fresh pastries.

I arrived on a Saturday morning around 11:30am after travelling since 7am. There were no rooms available. The concierge offered to take my number and call me as soon as I could get a room. The bellman checked my luggage and I left to tour the city.

I returned at 5pm, exhausted and still no phone call from the hotel about my room. The bellman then told me there was a charge of $1 to hold my bags. I would have tipped this anyways, but was put off by the fact that this was introduced AFTER the fact, not before. A shame.

After being out all day the, room, although small, was comfortable and welcoming. The woman at the event services desk recommended a play - Gigi - which was an incredible suggestion. As I was getting ready to head out to see the play I searched my room for the dining menu. The welcome information in the room offers in-room dining options, however when I called the concierge she said they actually do NOT offer it. Unfortunate as I did not have time at this point to go out to eat before the play.

Stayed for two nights and the beds were extremely comfortable, rooms were quiet with the exception of a few sirens throughout the night, and the hosts outside were helpful to get cabs quickly. The cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful.

Overall I would say there are pros and cons to this hotel. The price is reasonable for Manhattan and the beds are comfortable. If you are here to see the city and that is all you need, then go for it. I didn't feel this hotel went above and beyond in any way to deserve more than three stars and the inconsistencies in communication were a let down.

Room Tip: The main floor was rowdy, I would recommend a higher floor for quietness.

Passable for a short business trip or for infrequent travelers not accustomed to amenities who are looking for a good central NYC location. Staff pleasant and helpful, but: No room service. No in-room coffee maker. No restaurant except for bar menu in lobby bar (lots of places nearby though). Room was ok but nothing to shout about for a frequent traveler. Made me realize why I normally stay at Marriotts. I will next time.

Room Tip: The higher up the better. Street noise. Noise carries loudly in corridors.
