“Great Service; Good Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I stayed 3 nights and agree with other reviews that service was superlative from check in desk accommodating us with room near elevator, king size bed and map directions to where we were walking with subway directions. Hotel is handy to 7th Ave subway to get to Times Square and other locations. However,we did walk a lot too, our choice. Rooms were comfortable with reading light on each side of bed; large desk in front of window with handy plugs and free WiFi in room. Definitely would stay here again.

I can only talk about this hotel in superlatives. From the polite, efficient and friendly check-in at arrival, to the obliging doorman who expertly wrestled our case shut at departure when it seemed impossible to close.

We had booked a junior suite for two adults and a child. This turned out to be both chic and cosy, with a pull- out sofa bed in the living room, and a large double bedroom that had the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. The bathroom was superb: large, streamlined and with every possible comfort. The highlight for my granddaughter was definitely the enormous HD TV, which could swivel around to face either the living room or the bedroom.

From the outside, the hotel is a typical New York skyscraper, but inside it has a Parisian vibe with high ceilings, a magnificent atrium and atmospheric bar. It also has the famous hamburger joint, outside of which is a constant queue. It's food lives up to expectations and is reasonably priced, whereas eating or drinking in the hotel is otherwise expensive. Room service is very expensive, though delicious and beautifully presented. Overall, this hotel would be an occasional treat for those, like me, who are on a budget.

Finally, I love the location which is midtown on the Westside, perfectly placed for access to Central Park, the Lincoln Centre, Columbus Circle, and Fifth Avenue. Hope to make a return visit in the not-too-distant future.

Great location, home of the hidden hamburger shop, and a front desk staff that is friendly and helpful.

The rooms are fine. Decent size for Manhattan, but not too large. You get no amenities here though. The gym is an extra fee, there are no bottle waters in the room, and the hotel operators are not friendly or helpful.

However, compared to other nearby hotels, I like the vibe and friendliness here more. Definitely get an upper level room and get one on the back bank of elevators so that you don't have to take two elevators to the pool (extra charge).

Also has a nice social lounge/bar.

Room Tip: Get a higher level room and on the back side elevator bank.

Dear calbearfan,

Thanks for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Just to clarify something you mentioned in your post: we charge a single $10 per day, per room Facility fee that gives all guests in the room wireless internet access, access to the rooftop pool, access to our fitness center Gravity and all of its group fitness classes, as well as local and toll-free calls from the room. We do not charge for these services individually. We hope you'll keep us in mind the next time your travels bring you back to New York!

Stayed here with friends and would definitely stay again. We had a king room suite, and although the space was sufficient. It's NYC so honestly, we didn't expect much by way of space in the room.

The location is perfect and it was a short walk to Columbus Circle from our location. The room was not full of fluff and was pretty bare bones, but who comes to NYC to stay in the room anyway?

If you want a fairly trendy, perfectly located room then this hotel would be good for you.

Dear Awashing05,

Thanks for the nice review. I'm glad the room worked out for you and your friends. Our Jr. Suites are just shy of 500 sq feet, which is on the larger side as far as NYC hotels go. We hope to see you here again sometime soon.

First of all, I've stayed in this hotel for about 15 years. 15 years ago, I loved how modern the hotel was; Le Parker Meridien was like no other in years past. Fast forward 15 years later, the hotel looks EXACTLY the same; it is no longer a cutting edge modern hotel. I really wish that this hotel could reinvent itself into a new, modern, cutting edge hotel. Not only has the design of the hotel and the rooms stayed the same, the rugs and furniture desperately need to be thrown out and replaced. Paint is chipped, drapes are old and smelly, alarm clock is dated, etc. I gave this hotel one more chance to get it together. The last time I stayed here, the room looked more like a hostel than a luxury hotel room. When I brought my concerns to hotel management, I was offered an upgrade on the next room that I booked. Management did make good on this offer and the room was better than the last one. However, the same issues exist. This hotel has lost its' edge and I can't think of any reasons why I would return to this particular hotel when so many choices exist. The icing on the cake was when a cockroach pranced across the white marble floor right after I checked in yesterday. I do want to thank Juan for his help with reservations at Norma's (breakfast was delicious today) and Srdan Jovanovich for making good on the offer for an upgraded room. Until Le Parker Meridien makes a serious overhaul in terms of upgrades and modernizing, I don't see any reason to stay at this particular hotel again.

Excellent location and .....nothing else. Overpriced Average rooms, small bathrooms, slow elevators, sloppy costumer service. Don't book on lower floors because rooms are to dark, and if you want to go to pool you need to use two elevators. On the 22 floor there is no sing , no information, where to go if you want to use pool on 42 floor. Very confusing.

Room Tip: Higher floors for more light and view.

Dear Beata K,

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I'm sorry to read that you weren't a fan of the hotel. We have a wide variety of rooms at many different price points, so you have plenty of choices when it comes to picking a room that suits your needs. I'm sorry that you found getting to the pool confusing. To get our guests to their rooms as fast as possible, we have two banks of elevators: one for the lower half of the building and another for upper half. Getting to the pool from the lower half of the building is easy; guests just need to switch from one bank of elevators to the other at either the lobby level or the 22nd floor. We genuinely appreciate your feedback and hope that you'll consider staying with us again sometime in the future.

I had an okay stay at the Parker Meridien. The hotel is very hip, but things rather bare bones. One thing I always really appreciate is coffee and tea in the room. Not at this hotel, over 350 dollar per night and not even a free coffee of bottled water?
