“a good deal in a great spot”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I am sure there are other hotels in this price range but likely not just a few blocks from everything you want to see.

Room size is very good for a couple like the duchess and I. We could spread out and we didn't feel cramped. Bathroom (with tub) was also very good. One of my major complaints at most hotels is the TV reception - well this location was perfect...and on a good size TV. We arrived very early and still got in a room!!! The place is clean and friendly and in a good part of town - felt safe the entire time in the neighbourhood. The coffee was very good and fresh at all times of day. Must also comment on the bellman...he hooked us up with a private car for the run back to the airport in Newark...excellent.

But;

- only two elevators for the entire hotel.
- the free cookies were just a rumour.
- they say breakfast is included but we couldn't get close to it...we ate at a diner across the street because of the crowd and line-up. Spent an extra $100 for the week.
- room temp way too high and thermostat did nothing to control it.
- no exhaust fan in the bathroom.
- pillows offer zero neck support.
- I came away with a sore back which was a real surprise.
- I visited the front desk three times in one day to get our room key re-programmed.

Sorry to report that the disappointments outweigh the positives. The staff were awesome but the building and advertised amenities are not.

When you add in what we had to spend on breakfast to the rate we paid it opens up many other possibilities in even better locations.

Room Tip: get the highest floor you can so the elevator is empty when you are trying to come down. we were on...

Stayed overnight. Excellent location and service. Arrived early and had no problem checking in to our room. Also requested late check out; again no problem. Room and hotel were clean. Room was very large for NYC - 2 queen size beds and plenty of room to move around. We routinely go to NYC to visit family and would definitely stay here again.

I use Hampton Inn as my first choice for accommodation every time I travel and this trip was not the exception but unfortunately this particularly hotel is below their normal standard. Beds and rooms need to be improved but the MAIN reason I only gave 2 stars (first time ever for a Hampton Inn) is due to the breakfast problem. No matter what time you go you will be in line for at least 30 minutes and the staff tells you that it is normal. Come on that is not normal just because is free you should not let me be standing for my records that 30 minutes. Be created open a second place etc...

We enjoyed our stay, the staff were very friendly and we were helped our when we had questions. The location is wonderful. The line for breakfast is a little busy so get up early and plan ahead. When we return to NY we will be staying here again.

I stayed here for a girls' weekend with my daughter and friends. It was the holiday season, and hotel rooms in NYC are typically pricey. We didn't want to stay in the frenzy of Times Square, but we wanted to stay close enough to shop and to get to the plays we had booked. This hotel was perfect at a wonderful price! The rooms are big for NYC, and the staff could not have been nicer. When we arrived at the hotel from a terrible car service experience, we were early for check in, but they staff managed to get us into our rooms quickly and with little fuss. We were on the top floor, and it was very quiet. The breakfast area is nice, but I would recommend that you go early unless you want to wait. The hotel is large, and the downstairs can get a big chaotic in the morning. The hotel is one block from the blue line of the subway, and that line is an easy way to get to the 911 Memorial and the Chelsea Market. Our room faced East, and we could see the marquis for Wicked from the window. We walked to the corner and crossed the street to get to Jersey Boys. When we went down on Sunday to store our luggage, we asked the bellman about transportation back to the airport, and he arranged a car for us...one with a kind, calm, courteous driver. It was a great stay...

Room Tip: Top floor is quiet.

We always stay here when we come to NYC,because the room size is so very comfortable, and everything is working and in place. The location is as conenient as we coukd want. It does not have the ambiance of Hiltons or Doubletrees, the lobby is basic, but the room size and comfort, at this great location, make it our favorite. And the desk staff are very helpful.

Breakfast needs to be managed; the prepared eggs and meats are pretty terrible, but there are boiled eggs, bagels, oatmeal, fresh fruit, enough to construct a good breakfast. The workout room is very small, but has three treadmills, a workstation, and adequate free weights. It met my needs every morning, and was not crowded.

Room Tip: Rooms on Eighth Avenue have a better "view". Higher rooms are quieter if you like open wi...

This hotel was recommended to us by my sister & her family, they've stayed on several occasions and told us what a great stay they had, great price as well as perfect location. We booked our room just a couple of weeks before arriving the day before Thanksgiving for my "Bucket List" dream of going to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and to see the world-famous Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. We arrived early, they let us check our bags, park our car (did I mention the FREE parking??!!?), and go have lunch till our beautiful, clean, comfy room was ready. The service was excellent all around. We were able to walk to Radio City Music Hall for the Wednesday evening show. We got up early Thanksgiving morning, we were treated to a delicious breakfast (again, FREE!!), and were able to hail a cab right outside the hotel doors to take us as close to the parade route as we could get. And then, after the parade, we had to walk back to the hotel (which was a little hike, but not too bad) and when we arrived, they were giving out hot apple cider and pumpkin pie ~ such a warm, delicious treat and wonderful hospitality! We will definitely book future trips to NYC with this hotel! Thanks again, Hampton Inn Times Square North, for making us feel so welcome and pampered!!!
