We arrived in Manhattan a week after Superstorm Sandy, and before the nor'easter. The staff was very helpful, especially the front desk staff. The hotel was very busy - many displaced by the storm were staying there temporarily, as well as Red Cross volunteers, and NYC marathoners, waiting to leave after the canceled marathon. I was very impressed by the hotel staff, who treated everyone graciously. Though the hotel is not brand new, the rooms and breakfast facility were clean and very comfortable.
Location: great! We walked everywhere - theaters, shopping, etc. because public transportation was not yet back to normal. Disclosure: we walked 6 - 8 miles daily, so if you're tired after a couple of blocks, take a cab. The theaters we went to were both within 2 blocks of the hotel. We walked to the Time Warner complex, Rockefeller Center, Macys Herald Square, Manhattan Mall, the Garment district, August Wilson Theater (Jersey Boys), and Eugene O'Neill Theater (Book of Mormon). We went to both theaters during the nor'easter, and we were fine, though at times, the walk was treacherous since we didn't have boots.
Finally: always, always confirm your hotel reservations, even though your venue says it's not necessary. Since we arrived during the heigh of storm backlash, I'm glad I confirmed because I was reassured that we had a place to stay!
I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip.
