“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2011

We arrived in New york on 26th nov, having booked an apartment as there was 6 of us, i wont go into detail but it wasnt what we expected, so with cases in hand we walked down the road and came across this hotel, it was our saviour, they couldnt have been more helpful.
The first night which was a saturday they managed to get us 2 rooms, then from sunday we were able to have 3 rooms, the receptionist staff couldnt have been more helpful, and still with all the other customers that were comming and going they still remembered and asked if we had managed to sort out our apartment problem.
The rooms were great, spacious and clean, and the hotel is very central and easy access to everything, and a bonus is that breakfast is included and tea and coffee are available 24hrs aday in the foyer.
If you do fancy eating in an American diner there is one situated across the road open 24hrs aday and will deliver to you, its called Cosmic Diner, and it alot cheaper thn eating in Times Square

We spent 5 nights here, and really got to like the location. Our first time in NY so not really knowing where things were, we were very happy when central park, times square, rockefeller center were both less than a 10 minute walk away. The subway is right there, so transport is easy. I didnt find the concierge to be that helpful with the information we wanted, but all staff were very friendly. Our room was clean and a good size, I didn't think it was small, as some others do when they stay in NY. The hotel restaurant is only open for breakfast, and that's not that great. Can get better outside the hotel. They have complimentary hot chocolate that's available 24/7, which was much needed when coming in from the cold some nights. I;d stay here again.

Just returned from a 4-night stay with my daughter. We arrived early in the morning and they offered their free breakfast and to hold our luggage until our room was ready. Hotel is very central to all subway lines and within walking distance to Times Square, Upper West Side, 5th Avenue shopping and Rockefellar Center. Room was very comfortable with a king and sofa bed. We faced 51st Street, with no street noise. In fact, we heard no other hotel guests, which was a nice respite from spending the day in the city. Rite Aid is on the corner, and the Food Emporium was one block down. Lots of restaurants and Deli's in the area, with a 24-hour right across from the street. Inquired through the Concierge about plays, however, we found the tickets were priced high since they went through a ticket broker. We went directly to one of the playhouses and we were able to buy "rush" tickets at 1/2 the quoted price. Security at the hotel was very good as we usually returned to the hotel between 11pm-2:00am (show your keycard.) Hotel lobby and room were always clean. When in NYC, we try and stay away from chain hotels, however, we are planning a return visit next year. Great Hotel and service!

Room Tip: rooms facing 51st street quieter

The location of the Hampton Inn was excellent - very close to the theater district, great restaurants and shopping. An easy walk to Central Park, Fifth Avenue and Times Square. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms were very clean. The breakfast room was often crowded, but the line moved quickly and the attendants continually replenished the buffet . A very nice variety of breakfast items were available - better than most hotel continental breakfasts. Fresh coffee, tea and hot chocolate were available in the lobby 24/7. One special thing -- since it was Thanksgiving Day, the hotel provided pumpkin pie for guests returning from the Macy's Parade! All in all, it was probably the nicest Hampton Inn we have stayed at - and we have stayed at quite a few.

Room Tip: We were on a high floor facing 8th Avenue. Suited us perfectly. Very little noise.

I've stayed here twice and I love the location for all the touristy stuff you can imagine doing. Walking distance to Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and right next to the A, C, E subway line for easy access to other points of interest!

This is the second time in New York and will definitely stay at the Hampton again. Great Price, great location, clean room free breakfast and wifi. The location was perfect, block from times square, walking distance to Central Park and the Museum of Natural History. The beds were queen size and room was not too cramped like some are. Bathroom looked like it was relatively new. Have been recommending hotel whenever asked.

Just returned from a seven night stay at this Hampton Inn. We had a eleventh floor room with a sofa and king. The room was large by any city's standards.

With the heater fan switched on it created a steady white noise that drowned out any noise from the neighbors and the street. I never even heard it cycle, no clunks, no squeaks, nothing! The perfect heater for us.

Never waited more than one minute for the elevators. Only one morning did we have a line for breakfast and it went fast. The staff was friendly and efficient.

Location, location, location! We attended eight(!) Broadway shows and never walked more than 12 minutes. Never felt unsafe. Central Park is about five blocks north, Times Square about five blocks over, and the Macy's Parade route passed within two blocks. After the parade the hotel handed out pumpkin pie and hot apple cider (a nice touch!). Two subway lines are within two blocks.

I would stay here again in a minute!

Finally, two pet peeves for guests. One, don't reserve tables in the dining room. Many more people will be able to sit down if you wait until you get your food. Two, don't bang your door shut. It works just as well to close the door quietly and then check it.

Thanks. Have fun there!
