“Really great stay, would love to stay again one day.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

We stayed all over xmas and opted for a slightly larger room. Really great spot for exploring, we managed to walk everywhere from the Hotel. Love the fact Grand Central is connected, fantastic food hall/market in there. Check it out, so much choice!
If we returned to New York we would love to stay here again, definately recomend to friends.
Room was a good size on the 28th floor ( although we paid for larger room)with separate little sofa and table, seperate closet-entrance way, the best bed ever, so comfortable. Really good nights sleep every night. The room was kept clean everyday, fresh towels etc. Small fridge in room came in handy. No noise from road below but i didn't expect there to be that high up!
The lifts were very very busy and we had to wait a fair while often but it was xmas and the Hotel was busy.
Breakfasts are really lovely, very expensive mind you!
I had a problem with the cash machine situated in the Hotel one day,the man who came over to help us was so nice and helpful, he got on the phone to the ATM company and reassured me the transaction hadn't gone through.Turned out it was my fault! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff we encountered.

One down side-The Grab and Go inside the Hotel- i renamed it- Grab and Wait! Please get more staff!! It is so handy but so annoying to have to wait so long, one member of staff doing drinks and the till, sometimes someone else was about but didn't help serve. Really annoying, it could be such a great little shop, so off putting to go in there though.Staff less than friendly in there at times too.
The Hotel was really really nice, i am so glad i booked it as some of the reviews labelled it as a bit average. We were very impressed with it and except for the little shop have no complaints at all.

It's actually a GREAT location. We held a week of internal training at this property, they have a nice mix of what I like to call "humane" meeting rooms with high ceilings and windows and your standard low ceiling could be in a basement or not rooms as well. The elevators though are a total pain in the you know what. If you need to get from certain floors to other floors you can only use some of the elevators. I know why they do this, so that everyone doesn't cram onto one vator, but hey, how about some signage down in the lobby or on the meeting room levels to ensure people know where they are going?

however, on the plus side the little in house market called, strangely, "Market" has AMAZING lac and cheese. late night drunken snack, yes please! Also, you can go right into Grand Central without having to brave the cold outside and get a proper coffee at JOE instead of drinking the so-so hotel coffee in house.

Being a Grand Hyatt I expected the same standards as other Grand Hyatt's around the world, however this was not the case.

The Door staff don't offer to carry your bags or even open the door.
Massive wait to check in and out, Plenty of staff around but only one actually working.
Room was big but lacked facilities I expected.
No mini bar, No tea making equipment, no stand to put your case on, only 3 pillows between 2 guests (always going to cause an argument!), hot water took 5mins to get warm each morning, Bath had badly pitted enamel which was off putting.
Wifi was expensive and only allowed you to connect one device.

We stayed in the Hyatt over Christmas 2012 & New Year. The rooms were on the small size but everything was OK. It seemed like it must be huge hotel with lots of rooms. Most of the time at least one of the elevators was not working. At various times there was only one out of 5 available. This meant that it took up to 15 mins waiting at peak times to actually get into the elevator.

The location is really good since it is right on top of Grand Central so obviously able to get everywhere from the subway.

The room cleaning was only just acceptable with things being cleaned around rather than properly cleaned.

It does not really compare well to other hotels I have stayed in for this price - but perhaps the justification is that it is in NYC.

I would stay here again if it was much cheaper than other options.

Priceline calls this a four star hotel. Well, i guess. i think all of their NYC star ratings are too high by one star, and this hotel is no exception. That said, it has been refurbished recently and the result is a wonderful hotel experience in a good location for the business traveler who needs to be in mid-town, down town, or wherever. Hotel staff was attentive and courteous and the room was clean and quiet. This is a big improvement over the last time i stayed there in 2009. Thanks!

Room Tip: Just ask for a quiet room and they'll help you if they can. Views? I don't think you will...

Just back from 2 days in NYC and was really pleased with this hotel. the hotel is huge so don't except the manager to come and welcome you by your first name; but for the quality of the room together with the location and value for money, I would really recommend this hotel.

I really enjoyed the hotel. It was very nice and modern and was close to the train, subway, and walking distance to Times Square. The A/C in the rooms would only go down to 65 degrees though. Most people would say that would be fine, however, the a/c outlet (were the A/C came out) was right by the thermostat, so the thermostat thought that the room was much cooler than it was. We tried to open the window to cool it down (it was Jan in NY), but it would only open about 4-5 inches, so not much air was coming in. I have a temp guage on my travel alarm and the coolest I could get the room where I slept was about 72-75 degrees. Too warm for my liking. And to add insult to injury, they had down comforters on the bed, which would have been fine if it was actually cool in the room. The second day there we asked the concierge to have someone come in and check the a/c. They must have, because after a long day out in the city we came back to the room to have the a/c turned off. Geez, if I wanted in hotter in there, I would have turned it off myself. The a/c didn’t get any cooler, so they definitely didn’t fix it. We traveled there with some friends, and they said their room was hot also… So definitely a bigger problem than just me.
Other than the a/c, the rest of the amenities were great and the hotel super. One night we grabbed a nightcap in the hotel bar, and it was great. The coffee in the lobby was also pretty good, although expensive, but what in NYC isn’t expensive? Oh, I forgot to mention they didn’t have any coffee in the room or drinks. There was a refrigerator in the room, but it was empty, and there were no vending machines in the hallway either.

Room Tip: We were on the 31st floor and our room was quiet. Most of the views face other buildings and you ca...
