“A Bit Brit, I Say....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

The paneled lobby, the flocked chairs flanking the sofa in the lobby, the suede-lined walls in the floors above ~ all reminiscent of an English club. While not ostentatious or snobby at all, The Blakely has much to desire in NYC - fabulous location for this price (Gosh, the St. Regis is a few blocks over for a lot more $$$, the Hilton is on the corner for more $$$), friendly and helpful everybody, and more than accommodating rooms.
Rates include a continental breakfast served in the restaurant adjacent to the lobby. Watermelon in February was spectacular! Luscious! Thanks, Blakely!
Our room had all you could want in its galley kitchen in the hallway - mini-bar, frig, sink, plenty of dishes and cutlery (you could dine here if you chose), microwave, a Keurig for morning coffee.
Bath and room were more than adequate - lots of mirrors in the bath, comfy bed and a sitting area beside. We were on the 11th floor with a great view of City Centre and welcomed sunlight each morning!
The lighted closet had great space, an ironing board, a hair dryer, wonderful shelving.
This is a find for those of us who don't want to pay through the nose to enjoy NYC. Just stay away when I want to come so there is a room for me!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel for a good view and morning sunlight.

Recently stayed at The Blakely and had a one bedroom suite. It was quite spacious by New York standards and was well appointed. It is near some great restaurants, pubs and theater district. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again and recommend to friends.

We stayed 12 nights and upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite. It was very comfortable stay. The hotel is small so you get full attention from the staff. They are very helpful. Breakfast nice, even so it is continental. The free Wi-Fi is good. The location is superb!! Good buses going up/down and across town. There is an underground station (R Q N) end of the street. Good coffee shops and restaurants near the hotel, and very good gourmet to go like Dean & Deluca 56th , or Morton Williams 57th. Both, just next to the 6.5 Ave. The small kitchette meant being able to bring back the good food and eat indoors. The hotel is next to the MoMA, Columbus circle, Broadway theaters, Times Square the Carnegie hall and the central park. Would definitely return!

Just returned from a w/e at The Blakely! Clean, quiet, cozy, very comfortable beds and loved, loved, loved the hot water in the shower! Small kitchette in the rooms meant being able to bring back "doggie bags" from the wonderful NYC restaurants. Close to everything, whether it be Broadway and Times Square or a walk in Central Park. The complimentary breakfast at the Abbocato Restaurant was plentiful, but service and smiles were hard to find. Would definitely return!

The Blakely is a small, boutiquey hotel just below Central Park. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and helpful. For example, we called down for an extra pillow, and it was in our room in 10 minutes! The room was a good size, not huge, but big enough for a desk and easy chair. There were a microwave, refrigerator, and a Keurig in our room. Even though it's on w. 55th, it is easy to get to the east side and downtown. There is a free breakfast in the morning with fresh fruit, muffins, toast and cereal, and plenty of dining options all day within a block or two. The hotel is across the street from the New York City Center, near MOMA, and not that far from Broadway theaters. It's modest price makes the Blakely an ideal place to stay!

Room Tip: Stay on an upper floor to minimize street noise.

Fantastic small hotel with the personal touch. Spot on for location. Our first trip to New York with our 7 year old daughter and we could not fault the hotel. Everyone was very friendly and professional. I don't know why there have been negative comments concerning the breakfast as it is ample and very good. The bed in our room was to die for. I never wake feeling rested but for two nights in October I certainly did. Have contacted the hotel since we returned to get details of the mattress. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Blakely New York (and already have) and will certainly return. An excellent find.

Blakely is a small hotel very well located. Looks like a very traditional hotel but everything looks good and new.
Staff is really nice and helpful.

Rooms (at least mine) are good, continental breakfast included is OK. The only thing that could be better are the lifts, which are small and really slow. Sometimes, it takes a long time to get to where you want to go.
