“Wonderful Experience - a great mistake :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

We were originally booked to stay at the Wellington hotel at 7th Ave and 55th. I have stayed there before, and it is just okay. Our trip was my husbands first time to the city, and I was excited about staying somewhere familiar and so close to everything. We got to the Wellington to check in, and they informed us they had overbooked, and had no room for us! I was about to flip out, until they informed us they had moved us just down the block to the boutique hotel, the Blakely. The doorman took us down there, and got us settled. WHAT A GREAT MISTAKE this was. The Blakely is a beautiful, classic, comfortable place to stay. Our room was a king bed room, with a sitting area and a desk, and a mini bar with granite counters, a sink, a fridge, a Keurig coffee machine, a big bathroom with marble and mirrors, it was amazing. I will definitely be back. The hotel staff was very welcoming and helpful even though we were latecomers and originally booked somewhere else. There is complimentary continental breakfast in their hotel restaurant, Abboccatto, and free WiFi which are both very rare in NYC since everyone likes to charge for everything. The furnishings were oak and velvet, and the linens were high thread count, very crisp and clean, and the housekeeping is very good at their job. I couldn't be happier. They stored our luggage for us when we checked out to go see the sites for a while, and called a personal car for us to take us to the airport later on (i highly recommend doing this, so you dont have to stress about getting a cab). Customer service is great. You must stay here.

Room Tip: We were on the 14th floor facing 55th St and had very little noise problems.

My mother and 2 young daughters stayed at this hotel recently. It was a great choice. Rooms were nice, not cramped, lobby was cheerful and clean. All of the staff were wonderful, especially Eric who helped me out with a luggage problem. I will stay there next time I go to NY!!

After being a regular Affinia guest, I decided to try the Blakely based on recommendations from Trip Advisor and I wasn't disappointed. As indicated in many previous posts, the location is excellent -- close to key sites, Broadway shows, subway options, and yet the street is relatively quiet. The staff have all been friendly and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and plan to come again.

This hotel is in a great location and almost the best part is the staff. You feel like they are happy to see you and will help with anything. I stayed at the Marriot once and would choose The Blakely over that anytime. I will definitely stay here again. We were on a long weekend with grandchildren and were able to walk most anywhere. The restaurant was fine for breakfast of bagels, toast and fresh fruit and yogurt. I do not care for NYC coffee but managed. Our room was a suite so the girls slept in the small room and we took the queen beds that were very comfortable. Bathroom could use more or better lighting for makeup purposes. Spa tub was nice for kids and shower was o.k. for adults. The lobby is warm and friendly but again, the staff make this a wonderful place to be in the city. They got us tickets to anything we wanted to see or do and after a day of sightseeing we felt almost at home when the doorman greeted us.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the suite since it gave the kids a room to stay up late in and we could close our door an...

First time here, but definitely not the last. Easy walk to theatre and opera. It's a bit of old NY. Large suite instead of a small tiny room. Only drawback is slow elevator service. But they toss in free continental breakfast. What a find!

For a hotel that I wanted to come back to in NYC. The Blakely is great. Ive only just checked in. Its off the main drag - so a bit quieter than other hotels. The lobby is small but welcoming. The restaurant looks great (not eaten there yet). The room is amazing - its an apartment. I didnt need it on this trip - but I kind of like the feel of it now I have this large room. Its nicely done.
Free breakfast tomorrow - 7:30am - so a little late but will work. Its close to Central Park for a morning run and close to everything at the top of midtown.
Staff seem friendly. Off to dinner now - a happy camper - its just got a nice safe and relaxed feel to the place.

We arrived at the crowded lobby of the wellington hotel since we had a reservation, but we were told that we should change hotel due to no room availability. We had to walk half block to the Blakely hotel (a partner boutique hotel). It was really nice, clean, the breakfast was at a charming restaurant named abbocado. The location was excellent and the street really quiet, one block away from subway, 2 blocks from central park. The last day, they kept our luggage for the rest of the day, the staff was really nice. A peaceful and quiet hotel. We were glad about the change.
