“Good 4 star hotel in Manhatten”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

This hotel's location was very good, central to most things, the rooms were reasonably spacious and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were changed every day, lovely! the armchair was the most comfortable I have found in any hotel and had a footstool, very nice. Each room has a kitchenette, with microwave and fridge and coffee maker, though no kettle which would have made it perfect. The staff very very friendly and helpful, except for the breakfast staff. As in other reviews breakfast (which is free) was a bit of a nightmare, very busy at 10.00, we had a 15 min wait, coffee not great, and an envelope for tips on the table before you sit down. My husband went another day at 7.30 and said it was much better. Overall this was a great place to stay and I would go back again.

Room Tip: We were on 5th floor, it was very quiet. Peeked into the corner suites, they looked very nice!

As others have said, great location but also great staff, particularly the concierge staff who can't enough for you.
We had a 'no ask' upgrade to a suite and this is now our hotel of choice in New York, whether we get upgraded or not !

We have stayed with my husband in a hotel for 5 nights in August. We have chosen the hotel for the location and we were not mistaken. The location is perfect to explore the city: close to Central Park, Broadway, Times Square, 5th Avenue. Still being just few steps away from the active city life the hotel is in a smaller, more quite street which we found very pleasant too.

The hotel itself is good quality, clean and pleasant. Personnel was helpful and not too much intrusive. Continental breakfast in the mornings was good level continental, there was a possibility to order full breakfast for extra. The restaurant seemed to be small but it was never too much crowded. One evening we had dinner at the hotel restaurant and the food was good the atmosphere cozy.

The room was quite spacious and clean, with carpets (which I personally like). The only minus was very loud AC- it's good that we didn't need it that much. Also price wise it starts to be quite expensive 390USD per night per room.

We would definitely come back to the hotel and would recommend it for everyone looking for good quality and location.

My wife and I just returned from staying at The Blakely. The hotel staff was wonderful - friendly, professional and very helpful with all our questions. I had business - the wife had some free time. So, it was a great location for both. Just blocks from the park, shopping and the theater district. Our room was clean and spacious. Free wifi, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee-maker and more. The continental breakfast at the restaurant was excellent. I know some of the reviewers in the past have said the wait staff weren't friendly and the breakfast was nothing to write about it...but, hey - it's free...well, with a suggested $2 buck tip. Trust me...in New York, you can't beat it. If you have to go out for breakfast, go to Fluffy's bakery down the street on 7th...wonderful! All-in-all, I would highly recommend The Blakely.

The Blakely was really just perfect. When we arrived we were surprised to find we had been upgraded from a king to a king suite which had a great layout. The sitting area with tv and a second closet, the coffeemaker area and the bathroom were separated from the bedroom by a door. The early riser could completely shower, dress, have coffee and watch the news without disturbing the late sleeper. Amazingly roomy for a New York hotel. The staff was attentive and very pleasant. They seemed to genuinely care about meeting our needs. The restaurant downstairs was excellent. The hotel was amazingly quiet. It was homey and just lovely. I won't stay anywhere else when I return.

Room Tip: Definitely get the king suite if possible.

I have stayed at the Blakely twice now, both times in one bedroom suites. Each time there were three people staying in the rooms. The space was well done and the beds comfortable with a Daybed in the living room. This hotel is well located and has a continental breakfast included. It is not a large hotel and the staff is very helpful. A good restaurant is located on the premises and those staying at the hotel get a discount.

Room Tip: If you want a little more space and a microwave and fridge, choose the one bedroom suite. It even h...

My husband and I checked in around 11:30am and given a free upgrade (King suite). The room was very spacious and clean. The free wi-fi was a great bonus. The hotel is located within walking distance to Time Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, and Fifth Avenue shopping. The subway station is also walking distance, which my husband and I took to SoHo. The free breakfast was good. They had bagels, fresh fruits, yogurt, and muffins. I would definitely return to The Blakely New York.
