“Times Square a few steps away”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

We had a queen signature room. It was one of their renovated rooms but extremely small. Bathroom was tiny. Apart from that it was spotlessly clean. Very convenient for Times Square.
Lovely Art Deco in lobby. Free wifi not only in lobby but also in rooms which is a bonus.

Dear JWhittet,
Thank you for the positive comments regarding the cleanliness, service and location of the hotel. We are glad you chose one of the Signature rooms at the Edison. Though the rooms have been completely renovated, the actual blueprint has not changed drastically. Our hotel was built in 1931 when room sizes were more moderate. However the rooms do vary in size and we will gladly reassign you to a larger room based on availability. We look forward to seeing you the next time you are in New York.

I've been to NYC 5 times and have stayed at the Edison for every trip. The first thing you need to understand about this hotel is that it's old. It's an old, 1930's art deco hotel. The rooms are small, the decor is kind of outdated (though the lobby is AWESOME), and the bathrooms in the rooms are pretty terrible. However, it's a very cozy hotel in an absolutely perfect location. I love the doormen, they are wonderful, and the rest of the staff is always lovely. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The Polish Tea Room is the cutest cafe around, and you can see all sorts of broadway celebrities eating there, as the hotel is surrounded by Broadway Theatres. The bar has changed ownership since I was last there, but it was a great little place when I went. You cannot beat the Edison for location and value. Waking up early to get rush seats for shows was far less painful, as it was a 30 second walk to the box office. It's also a 30 second walk right into Times Square. It's a place I call home and I could not imagine staying anywhere else in NYC. The only thing I wish was different was the size of the bathrooms, but that's pretty minor to me. If you prefer the finer things in life, go stay at the Marriot or somewhere else, but if you want a bit of classic New York with a jazzy vibe, and a comfortable stay at a reasonable rate (for NYC that is), I'd recommend this hotel a million times over. I want to go back just writing about it!

Room Tip: If you can afford the price different, get a "Signature Room"

My grandson and I attended the opera on May 4, 2013. Since this was his first trip to New York the Edison was perfect. We had a room that was recently remodeled and really gave him the flavor of the city. My friends and I plan a theater week every year and attend as many plays as we can during our stay. The location is outstanding. And I appreciate the security in the hotel. We are coming again the week of June 23 for our annual trip. Kudos to the entire staff!!

My husband and I stayed here May 15th & 16th. We have stayed here many times before. The key is to get a "Signature Room." We had not been pleased on another occasion with the room, so this time had a Signature Room and there didn't seem to be much difference in the price. Room was not large, but very up-to-date and comfortable. Good to remember that the taxes in New York are very high and add quite a lot to the cost of the room. There's a nice little restaurant in the hotel that is good for breakfast. The location is perfect, especially if you are going to the theater. It's right in the heart of Times Square and you can walk everywhere. Also TKTS is very close and you can get 1/2 price theater tickets there the day of the show. Subway is also close by. I would certainly recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a Signataure Room.

Staying at the Edison Times Square NYC is a great experience. Classic Art Deco independently owned hotel that offers superb location, great value and wonderful service! Instead of staying at a big chain in NYC check out a perfectly situated Edison Hotel in the heart of it all. Getting to a nearby theater or restaurant row could not be any easier. The front desk, conceirge, housekeeping, all food and beverage staff and front door Bobby make the Edison a return booking every time!

Room Tip: Did not use pool or kids activities so can't rate. Ask for higher floor with updated interiors...

When we first arrived, we were given a key to a room that wasn't cleaned yet from the last occupants. We went back down and got another key. The same thing happened again. The third room we got was finally clean.

We went in April 2013 and there was no heating in the room so we had to wrap up at night so we weren't cold in bed as it was snowing outside some days.

The decor in the hotel felt very dated, as did the room itself. The photos of the rooms they had on their website were nothing like the rooms we saw.

This was my first time in New York and we picked the hotel based on the location. The location and price were the only things the hotel had going for it. We didn't spend any time in the room apart from sleeping in it, so the trip wasn't ruined by the hotel.

Dear Dimple1989,
We are so sorry you were disappointed with your stay. We apologize for the lack of readiness and cleanliness to two rooms during your check-in. We can assure you that this is not the standard we aspire to. We are in the process of renovations and are sorry that you did bit get one of the renovated rooms. Many of the pictures on our website are of the Signature rooms and you need to specifically book a Signature room to be assigned one. We hope you will give us a second chance to prove ourselves.

Diane and I stayed at the Edison on May 10 - 13 2013 for a weekend trip.
This is our 4th time staying at the Edison, and I am happy to say they Have
renovated several of the rooms ! Bathrooms looked new. Lots of Hot water for showers.
42 inch flat screan tv's. Beds were very firm and confortable. GREAT maid. loved her.
We stayed in room 351 and had 3 windows (ok, no view) but we could raise the windows and enjoy some freedom.
The small Restaurant was great, as usual. I had pastrami and eggs for breakfast, Diane had eggs Benedict. More than we could possibly eat. Cost was 10.00 per person and included juice, coffee and toast.
