The Hotel Carter is a budget hotel right in Times Square. This was the second time we stayed there, and it is okay for just crashing there one night after a day in the city. Check in was quick and easy, the room was small, but about average for NYC. We had four adults in the room and it wasn’t too tight. The lobby, the furnishings, and the rugs, all need renovation or replacement. The TV was new, but it had erratic volume issues. The sheets were clean, and looked new. The cover, however, was more like a rug than a blanket. I really have never seen anything like it. Still we all got a good night’s sleep. The bathroom was newly renovated and clean, but don’t expect to find a hair dryer in the room.
The biggest fail for this hotel is the elevator. We literally waited ten minutes in the morning and could not get on an elevator. Instead we went back to the room and got our belongings because we didn’t want to wait twice. The three elevators were ridiculously slow, and each one that arrived was packed with people. We decided to just take the stairs from the 19th floor, and the stairs were full of people doing the same thing. We are all healthy and only had one night’s stuff with us, so it wasn’t a problem. But we were waiting with two young women who had huge suitcases with them, and no way could they take the stairs. They may still be there.
Will I stay again for a one-night crash? You bet! The price can’t be beat for this location.
